i glanced, hastily, across the following list:
https://www.librarything.com/bookaward/1001+Children%27s+Books+You+Must+Read+Bef...
the first two on my screen are:
The Jungle book- owned and read
Tom Sawyer- owned and read
neither of these is marked- because the former includes words- scholastic
the latter includes words reader digest
Are those adaptations? or should they be merged into original titles? and which version should appear on the list? original? or adapted?

That award relates to 1001 Children's Books You Must Read Before You Grow Up by Julia Eccleshare (mentioning to get the touchstone).
I think what has happened, is somebody has wrongly/accidentally added the award onto those adapted versions, because both The Jungle Book and Tom Sawyer are already listed, in their original versions. I will edit the CK of both of the adaptations to remove this award.

Done. It's possible the Scholastic version of The Jungle Book might need combining, if it's just an edition rather than an adaptation, I'm not sure on that and will let someone else make that call.

The list description has a link to a group where the work of those who created the list was coordinated. I suggest that you ask there
