NY GOP county election commissioner charged in alleged voter fraud scheme

Jason Schofield, the Republican Board of Elections commissioner of Rensselaer County {NY}, was arraigned Tuesday on an indictment charging him with unlawfully using the names and dates of birth of voters to fraudulently apply for absentee ballots for 2021 {local} elections in his county, {DOJ} prosecutors said in a news release.

...from May through October 2021, Schofield applied for absentee ballots in the names of people who either had no interest in voting, did not request ballots or his assistance, and did not know he was using their personal information.

In a few instances, he personally brought the ballots to at least four individuals and instructed them to sign the envelopes without asking the individuals to complete the ballots themselves, the indictment said...

>1 margd: I heard about this a few days ago. It's also funny that most of the voter fraud cases seem to be republicans. Mark Meadows may be one. The case DeSantis is bringing against 20 people or so seemed manufactured to trap them. Most were ex-felons who seemed to think they had been cleared to vote by their local or county officials.....some at least seem to have questioned it to these officials beforehand and gotten the go ahead. There's a lot of gotcha shit going on with DeSantis all the time. He's always looking for headlines.

I've always found it interesting that so many conservatives pointing out the stumbling with words or language and bumbling about like a doddering old man of Biden...still ignore when Trump starts slurring over, misspelling or mispronouncing himself which he does quite a lot of or the bombastic claims that Donald likes to make about medical or legal or military expertise that he clearly doesn't have or the constant reminders that he skipped out of just about every historical or geographical class he might have had growing up which always begged the question was he home schooled by a moron or just a narcissistic moron himself? I'd opt for the latter.

A former county election official in Virginia was indicted Wednesday on corruption charges after her successor found "discrepancies" related to the 2020 election.

White is facing felony counts of corrupt conduct as an election official and making a false statement as an election official and her misconduct is reported to have occurred between August and December of 2020.

Trump continues to insist, after 20 months, that he won an election that he lost by more than 7 million in the popular vote and by 306-232 in the Electoral College. Neither he nor his acolytes have produced any evidence to undermine those totals. But they have eroded confidence in the system and its caretakers to the degree that a majority of Republicans tell pollsters they think the election was "stolen."

The rest of the GOP, including prominent leaders such as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, would clearly prefer to talk about Biden and about inflation, gas prices, crime and immigration. But they cannot wrest the party's megaphone back from the man who has monopolized it since 2015. And whatever they think of Trump personally, they are as reliant as he is on the support and donations and votes of his followers. So they fall in line, or they fall silent.

NPR mentioned how the extremely conservative "think tank" Heritage Foundation has been feeding the lie that Trump's failed reelection was due to fraud at the polls.

I don't think people are looking closely enough at Heritage Foundation or questioning enough why a group that has been accused of being a foreign agency during the height of the foreign country's domestic terrorism (as a part of violent censorship against its people) and currently has close ties to a pro-Russian billionaire is so aggressively in support of a suspected Russian agent as POTUS.

U.S. 202 US 344, at 369). There is no constitutional authority to hold a special election that would be required to fill a seat in the event a member was recalled. Article I, section 4 of the Federal Constitution relating to the time for holding a regular election and Article XVII of the Amendments on holding a special election only when a vacancy exists combine to preclude an election to replace a member of Congress who had been recalled. Federal constitutional provisions supersede any state recall procedures for these offices..."

I mean maybe someone like Prox or Kuiper could explain why Fox would do that if they weren't caught out in their election lies. I mean it's not $1.6 billion but it's still a shitload of money. And if Smartmatic is working with the same evidence as Dominion as they claim why wouldn't they get at least another $787.5 million dollars at the low end to go away. It's like what the fuck is up with the Murdoch family? And is it all good between the talking heads that spread these lies like Carlson, Bartiromo and Pirro and Fox? Maybe all those $'s out the window is just chicken feed. Maybe they could get a couple thousand of their employees to walk the plank.
