If Peter Rabbit is possible then hopefully Folio would consider a true remake of the Thomas series with original illustrations. Minus the commercialized branding that has surrounded Thomas since it became a mass market theme.

>1 cu29640: That would be lovely. I can imagine the fun grandparents everywhere would have reading these to toddlers, enhanced with sound effects.

My 1998 box set just predates the awful modern versions of these. The books have laminated covers and no dust jackets but conform closely to the original cover designs and benefit from new digital scans of all the illustrations. I also have loose copies of the Christopher Awdry books in similar format. It would seem I was just in time. Any FS version would have to be truly special to induce me to upgrade. Maybe the addition of some of the hard-to-come-by maps would do it.
Of course, the books are hopelessly unacceptable to modern sensibilities what with fat and thin Controllers and silly, giggling female carriages, and most engines running off filthy fossil fuels. What's not to like!
Edited to eliminate predictive taxes.

This is a legit request. I would purchase without question. I have a vintage edition and never liked the modern mass market re-branding of Thomas. No sound effects. A pure reproduced set of the originals. None of the new junk aimed at kids shopping in Wal Mart.

I might be wrong, but I read >2 HuxleyTheCat: as suggesting that the grandparents would be making the sound effects, rather than that they would be in the books themselves.
