Translated version of a book is split into two books

The first three books of The Witches of Eileanan were sold as two books each in Germany. Right now the german books 1 and 2 are combined with the first english book. How do I solve this?
My guess would be:
- Seperate the german versions
- Make a series for the 9 german books
- Add a contains-relationship
Would this be right?

>1 Cairlinn: That will work. Or you can add them to the main series in their own group. But add relationships to the books - the series relationship is not as important as setting the relationship in each book - that will stop them from being recombined again.

>2 AnnieMod: A group sounds best, thanks. And I meant the book relationship. Just found out you can also relate series.

Ok, a group didn't work. The first three books were split, the second weren't. And I can't add a work twice to a series.

For the series, there's the option of making a whole new series page for this alternate splitting of the books, which is reasonable. If you do that you can just enter whatever the numbering is for that particular German publication order. Annie's suggested potential other option would be something like the Hyperion Cantos series:

You can see the split-in-translation works entered as 1.1 and 1.2 under the "Collections and Selections" group. You could also choose to put them into a new group with a name of your choosing. But yeah, if book 3 was not split you might end up with a 1.1 and 1.2, 2.1 and 2.2 there, but no 3.1 and 3.2, only the book 3 in the Core section.

Another example of the Song of Ice and Fire series page which has a lot of split-into-parts editions:
