About 80% done with The Dragonbone Chair. Very slow start, but the plot is becoming more focused and the pace is picking up.

I'm in Velaris in A Court of Wings and Ruin.

Currently starting trip to post-apocalyptic Australia (I assume it's Australia, since the author is from there) with The Storm Weaver and the Sand.

I'm back to Cradle with Blackflame.

I finished The Dragonbone Chair. Not too bad, but I *almost* didn't go to the next book in the series. The little red flag went up in my head when I didn't immediately go download Stone of Farewell and watch review videos, etc. The story is kind of all over the place, with a bit more coherence at the end. What saves it is the prose and the interesting world. Ultimately, I decided to cut Mr. Williams a break due to the fact that first books in series require a LOT of table setting and getting the pieces moved around the board, and I am 3% into Book 2!

>9 drmamm: I'll be interested to hear your thoughts when you get deeper into Book 2. I just read Stone of Farewell for the first time recently, myself, and interested to see where you land on it.

Won't say more on Book 2, to avoid spoiling anything, but my experience with Book 1 was fairly positive, but largely in a "Wow, it's refreshing to read something so old-school" way, more than really getting strong enjoyment from it. I gave it a lot of leeway early on with the slowness, and I did feel it picked up well after the main "inciting" event that gets Simon moving on his adventures.

I'm in a world very similar to ours but with the added bonus of ghost dogs and fairy rings in Elatsoe.

Just left London & Alex Verus again, finishing Forged. The problem with supernatural suspense series is that to keep the arc going, the protagonist has to get more & more powerful (as do their adversaries) and the tone darker & darker. Eventually it becomes unsustainable. But Jacka is keeping it going better than most and I'm still carried along. This and Dresden Files are the only ones I've kept with for this many books (maybe also Anita Blake -- I forget how many volumes I read before dropping it)

In an India-ish land with The Archer at Dawn.

Taking a bit of a guilty-pleasure vacation to LitRPG computer-game-world with Fortress of Shadows.

I'm not usually a LitRPG reader, but I read the first volume in this series for Fantasy Bingo a few years ago, and thought I'd continue with it.

Travelled from the kingdoms of the west to Cthol Murgos, risking a Magician's Gambit.

Right now, putzing around with a bunch of abandoned chapters and short stories.

In April, I will be revising my next book.

I’ve been spending most of my fantasy time in an alternate Pittsburgh, in Elfhome. Oddly, the author had mentioned crumbling infrastructure… just when the bridge over Fern Hollow in Frick Park collapsed earlier this year.

Finished traveling around parts of a post-revolution place with Fellian, the Servant mage. I liked the characters, and the way the magic worked was interesting enough. (Well, who wouldn't like walking miles and miles easily, via a series of temporary portals with no side effects?) It felt like the politics were a little too simple, though, with revolutionaries and monarchists coming across as equally rigid and wrong.

Coming up this week: A master of djinn for a book group. I've liked everything I've read by Clark.

I spent the other day in Chicago in Peace Talks.

Just finished a reread of The Greater Trumps by Charles Williams. I don't know if Williams would have considered it fantasy -- such an unusual man -- but it's the best category I can think of. I've always loved his presentations of spirituality, the occult, and ethics.
(edit) I just checked the link to make sure it was correct, and found to my surprise that its description of the book used almost the same three words I did to summarize it. Gratifying, I guess...

Finishing out a reread of Mordant's Need, with A Man Rides Through.

Right now, I'm reading Crave by Tracy Wolff. It's not as bad as I originally thought it would be, kinda enjoying it as a light read.

I'm in Aurdwynn with The traitor Baru Cormorant.

I spent the last couple of days in various parts of Ireland and Scotland and adjacent fairy realms in Song of Flight.

After just finishing book 1, I'm staying in Deverry, reading the Deverry series.
(I just wish the series page showed the book names I've got...)
