How to add translation of existing book

Hi,

relatively new to LibraryThing. I'm trying to add a book that exists in its original version (https://www.librarything.com/work/2041569/editions). I own a dutch translation of this book. Its ISBN is "90 295 2840 0", there is no barcode (published 1970) . I couldn't find it with this ISBN.
What is the best practice here? I'd like to add my translated version, but I'd like to make sure I do it the right way...

Kindest regards,
Wim

You can go to the add books page, search by the Dutch title and translator, under any of the Dutch language options.
Or on the lower left side of the Add Books page, there is a Add Book Manually link that you can enter it in as you like.

We might need to combine the book once it's added if it doesn't combine automatically.

Ah ok. The Dutch version is not yet in LibraryThing.

If I were to add it manually, how would I do it best so that it gets combined? Should I enter the original French title, and add the Dutch title as an extra title, or do I just treat this as if, this would be an original?
Thanks!

Well, Librarything is not a source for adding a book to Librarything. It would be an external library source on our Add Books page.

Because it is two different languages, it is a good possibility no matter how you enter it, we need to manually combine it.
So I'd say just enter all the details you have in the manual form and then post the link in the Combine help thread of the Combiners! group and we'll get it connected.

No. Add your version. Then on the main work page of your copy add it to the workbench, (Lower right). Go to the existing work, and add it to the workbench. Then they are easy to combine.

As >4 gilroy: says, we can also do it for you is you prefer.

Thanks for the assistance!

To my surprise, when I added it, it automatically found it in LT. I think the reason I didn't find it is I didn't use an accent when searching the author (Leautaud vs Léautaud). I correctly added the name when I submitted it, and it correctly identified my version.

But good to know for any future items. :)

However, it was only combined with other copies in Dutch. I have now combined it with the French and Spanish works. I also added original title to CK.
