Choirs and ensembles come together to celebrate the wonder of Christmas, beginning in Russia with the Moscow Synodal Choir, on to Tallinn in Estonia with Vox Clamantis, and then Saint-Saëns from Leipzig in Germany and Handel from Riga in Latvia. 11.00 Moscow: The Moscow Synodal Choir sing Russian liturgical music ranging from a 16th-century stichera of tsar Ivan the Terrible in honour of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God to music of the present century. Moscow Synodal Choir, Alexey Puzakov (chorus director). 12.00 Tallinn: Live - Vox Clamantis sing music by Arvo Part and Cyrillus Kreek. Vox Clamantis, Jaan-Eik Tulve (chorus director). 1.00 Leipzig: The MDR Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus perform Christmas music by Rheinberger, Britten and Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël, Op 12. MDR Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. 2.00 Riga: Live - Christmas music by Handel and his contemporaries.
