Chris Bohjalian's excellent historical novel, "Hour of the Witch," took me back on a tumultuous frightening journey when women were property, one step above indentured servants in the Massachusetts Bay Colony of the 1600s.
The many plot twists, history and characters kept me reading, even when it got uncomfortable. I skimmed over the worst of it and still got the story line.
Bottom line: Bhojalian tells a great tale, based on historic facts. He quotes lines from trials in the 1600s and has obviously done his research. Definitely worth reading.
