Recent Member Recommendation not working properly

for a few days now, the recent member recommendations panel on my home page refuses to load anything. If I then go to the recommendations page that same panel loads recommended titles in titles view but if i switch that to view covers it displays nothing and even the UI elements to switch back to the titles view vanish. None of the other recommendations panels exhibit this issue

also the issue does persist if i log into librarything in a separate container that doesn't share the same cache and cookies

Also happens both in Firefox 93.0 and in Edge 94.0.992.50 on a Windows 10 machine
