...and I can't find how to separate it.
I entered the edition of Макар Чудра, a short story by Maxim Gorky. I entered it manually, as the edition that I read was on the Russian Wikisource site, so I did not expect it to appear in the catalogue of any library.
However, when I clicked on the title, in order to enter my reading details etc., I found that it had been automatically combined with "My Apprenticeship", which is also by Maxim Gorky, but a completely unrelated work.

Since I cannot see Макар Чудра as listed under "Editions", I don't know how to separate my book from "My Apprenticeship" and combine it properly with other editions of Макар Чудра/Makar Chudra (which do exist on LT - one is in my Wishlist)

Keep in mind that your old link is now invalid as it shows a combination of a work and a book which as not not connected. But if you go via your catalog, the books are now where they should be.
Also - for issues like that, post in the combiners group - as it is not a bug. :)

>2 AnnieMod: Thank you very much for your help.
Do you have any advice on what triggered the problem and how to avoid it occurring?
(I had assumed that the Combiners group was for discussing human disagreements about what constitutes the same book, not issues with automated features. My mistake.)

It is for anything combination related - the people that know how to fix messes always monitor there :)
Sometimes you cannot prevent it from happening - the system tries its best but sometimes it misfires. You just separate and move on. From what I saw, you did everything right, the system just over corrected. It happens. :) There is a line between being too greedy on auto combinations and missing too many possible combinations - and it is not a straight one. So we deal with it when it guesses wrongly.
