I have 25 suntup numbered editions and will be getting wolfen artist edition soon. I think suntup is much better than fs regular editions and some of ep regular editions. I really like numbered suntup editions in my hands. They feel very exclusive and pleasure to read. Well, suntup numbered exorcist edition is one of my favorite horror book edition after EP signed artist edition of strange case of Dr Jekyll and FS limited edition of Cthulhu. Dracula by ameranthine books is also in the same league with design, illustrations, materials and overall presentation.

Also, I really like your group and discussion in here. Always like to hear other collectors opinions about books I have and collect besides Easton press

Are there even 25 Suntup Numbered editions released (shipped) ? I counted 24, but I could easily have been mistaken.

I enjoy the quality of most of my Suntup’s numbered editions (the highlights being The Road, IAL, The Lottery, 1984 and Exorcist), but I find the overall quality declining as time goes on. Of course there are exceptions like Blood Meridian and Charlie, but those two are nearly a grand each (a price that would have seemed far fetched a mere year ago). As far as numbered goes, Horns and Misery seem like the best ones. Both would cost far more than 1000$ nowadays.

>2 Nerevarine: These were purchased by my parents and they think it only belongs to them. Lol Do you have Red Dragon and Iam a legend

>4 fancythings: I bought all Numbered editions from The Road up until Replay. I stopped getting them from Johnny Got His Gun, as the titles didn’t interested me and found that the overall value diminished with time (imo). I was curious about Jaws and Blackwater though, so I preordered the AE for those two (mainly for the illustrations regarding Jaws).

As far as Numbered go, I indeed kept Red Dragon and I Am Legend, along with The Road, 1984, Let the Right One In, Silence of the Lambs and The Exorcist. I sold the others as I either thought the quality wasn’t worth the price, or I wasn’t a fan of the novel. For the unreleased ones, I anticipate to keep Blood Meridian, Replay and mayyyyybe Doctor Moreau (if I like it enough).

As far as Artist editions go, I have Fahrenheit 451 and The Exorcist (my reading copy, as I found the numbered edition to be a dust and fingerprints magnet unfortunately).

>5 Nerevarine: thanks for sharing. My favorite numbered editions are the ones you mentioned. We also don’t like most recent titles suntup released. Thanks for letting me know about artist editions. I thought they will be almost the same as numbered minus cover and limitation page. If I don’t like it than no more buying suntup artist editions.

I actually prefer the artist editions. The beautiful wraparound art on the jackets is worth more to me than any number or letter. I remove the jackets while reading the book, though, to prevent damage.

>7 jroger1: True. And isn't it true that in most cases the art on the artist edition dust jackets is exclusive to that edition and not included at all in the numbered or lettered (I may be wrong there).

>8 Levin40:
I think that’s true, and a few of the editions have a second art piece printed inside the jacket so that you can re-fold it if you want to and have a new jacket design.

>7 jroger1: I feel better now about my artist edition wolfen purchase. I can’t wait to get and see it. And judge it for myself

>10 fancythings: I have the Wolfen portfolio, and I have the numbered edition coming. The novel itself is "okay" (basically, reasonably-entertaining 70s pulp stuff). But François Vallaincourt's art is just stunning!

>11 whytewolf1: yes, I purchased it for illustrations too. I never read it so here’s my chance.

>11 whytewolf1: this is my worry about buying these books…the two I’m interested in (Replay and Blackwater) both have some good some so so reviews)…I’m sure I would enjoy one read, but not sure if they’re special enough to keep in my library.

>13 RRCBS: I don't mind having a nice collector's edition of any book that I've read and enjoyed, even if I think I may never read it again (though, who knows). There are some classics that I affirmatively want (or wanted) fine editions of, as well as some contemporary or genre favorites. Others, I'll buy based on some combination of the artwork, the overall production, the price point, etc. So, for Blackwater, I'm not sure if that's one I would actually like, but the artwork looks great, so I may decide to read it on Kindle first, and if I like the book well enough, I may buy the AE.

But I know that different people have different collecting rules. For myself, one of my big ones is that I will only buy a collectible edition of a book that either I intend in the relatively near future (sometime between tomorrow and the next year or two) or that I have already read and liked. If I'm not likely to actually ever read the title or do not have any intention of reading it in the foreseeable future, I can't justify spending the money.
