Contemporary romance. Mousy brownhaired librarian type gets wisked away by secret agent.

I read this when I was a teen. Really want to find it again. The agent meets her and is forced to take her with him, perhaps for her safety. To disguise her, he has her get a makeover. They end up traveling into a jungle. They are captured during his mission and taken prisoner in a compound in the jungle.

Possibly one of the early Mrs. Pollifax novels?

I'm sorry it wasn't a match, and I don't know any others with a similar plot; hopefully somebody else will have another idea.
