Hi all, I'm really new to Suntup, having only been recommended this publisher by the lovely fancythings. They make beautiful books, but I noticed that they're like all sold out. Can anyone tell me if they bring books back into print, like Easton Press?

Thank you!!!!! Margaret

P.S. I checked out their sales on Ebay and they're like thousands of dollars. WOW!

There is already a lengthy thread on this forum about Suntup where you will find every opinion imaginable. https://www.librarything.com/topic/329789#

There are several artist editions of more recent Suntup releases still in stock on the site. Beyond that, there is only the secondary market as they have, to this point, shown no inclination to reprint any titles (and I would not expect that to change). Aside from sites like Ebay and ABEBooks, I know there is a fans of Suntup Facebook page (though I am not a member or a Facebook user at all) where owners post books for sale. There is also a thread on DarkTower.org where the same takes place. If there is a particular past title you are searching for, someone in one of those locations may be able to assist you. Good luck.

>4 HowardEriksonWolfe: Hi there, thanks so much for this. Ahhhhh, if only they would reconsider! Have you seen their edition of Red Dragon, with that scaly cover? My friend, that is art! :-)

I will check out that darktower website you mention.I don't have facebook so I guess that's out.

>5 Gilded_Tomes1: Gilded, if you want Suntup books at nearly cost, or just a bit over, it's worth joining FB and then the FB Fans of Suntup just to get them, they seem to have most books there for sale at one point or another, if you are patient, pretty sure you can get them all...

>5 Gilded_Tomes1: because of the rights systems, at times the less desirable numbered titles are sold at or below publication price (without rights) on the Facebook group page so the seller can stay on the rights train.

I've been a fan of Suntup Editions. I think the earlier offerings were a better value. The strength of the numbered editions in my opinion has been the covers while the interiors have been under designed. That said, in my opinion the last couple of books I've received have been better than I expected and I'm hopeful to see continued improvement. It is, after all, a very new business.

I've hopped on and off the rights system and no longer buy every title. Except for some very popular titles there are usually some available directly from the publisher on publication day. For those, you still need to move quickly. They tend to sell out in minutes or hours. Some go to lottery.

>7 SDB2012: Thank you all for this fantastic info; I do wish I discovered this publisher earlier, a lot of the books I wanted are just way beyond my price point in the secondary market, like Red Dragon, Haunting of Hill House, Rosemary's Baby, I am Legend, and so many more.

I guess I will just have to monitor them to see what other titles they come out with , and just buy it ASAP. I do wish they made more copies though, so we're not all struggling to buy them, lol!

There was a great deal of discussion regarding that exact idea in the large Suntup thread noted by jroger1

>8 Gilded_Tomes1: The lettered editions are very expensive at publication. I've never seen one in person so I can't comment on the quality/value. I do think the lettered binding of Red Dragon looks amazing. The numbered editions at the start of Suntup Editions were a great value.

I believe that the edition size for some of the upcoming releases is being increased. I'd like to see that as well. I'm not sure if there are any economies of scale that would work in favor of the customer but I'm in favor of more of the profit going to the publisher rather than flippers. I think that is the case with recent trends in price and secondary sales for recent titles.

>10 SDB2012: The edition size of the numbered state books was increased from 250 to 350 early this year. And frankly, in most cases, there's not a lot of "struggle" to buy them, or at least not more so than for the releases of any other number of limited edition publishers. OP seems to be most familiar with Easton Press at this point. The large/long window for buying virtually any EP limited edition is not at all typical.

>11 whytewolf1: that's what I said in an earlier message in this post. And, I believe Paul said the edition size would be increased for numbers again. My memory may be wrong.
