How do I locate a book when all I have is a section of text?
It is a passage which is used for fluency testing in Australian schools.
It reads
The lady smiled. She pulled a magazine from her bag and started to read. Luke stared out the window. He was glad the lady didn't ask any more questions. He had waited so long for this day that he didn't want to spend it having to be polite.
As the bus pulled away from the curb, Luke watched his father become smaller and smaller. He smiled happily and tucked his feet under his bottom. The school holidays had started a few days earlier, but this annual bus trip to the country always felt like it was the real start to the holidays. For an hour the bus sped through endless suburbs of houses, petrol stations and fastfood places. The smell of fried chicken and hamburgers crept in through the open window. Luke felt hungry. He took a gumball from his pocket and chewed on it. The hours passed. Luke tried to stay awake but the heat and the bouncing bus was too much for him. His eyes closed and he fell asleep.
As the bus began to rattle and jolt along a dusty road, Luke was jerked awake. He looked at the tall gum trees and homes with rusted-out car bodies in the yard. He was nearly there. Luke's excitement grew. He couldn't wait to visit his secret place. He slipped his hand into his backpack and slid his fingers across tiny sharp teeth. Yes, his baby crocodile skull was still there, already to guard his secret place.

No idea of author but maybe someone will know and be able to make a young girl who is determined to read this book very happy.
Thank you
