The SCIENCE of the SCIFI

This is a post to talk about the science within your favourite science fiction novels/series.

That's what I liked about both The Martian and Project Hail Mary, the science.

I quite like Sue Burke's Semiosis where she extrapolates our current knowledge of plant communication using chemical signals through mycelium webs by giving it an extra billion years of evolution on a planet where the flora communicates rapidly, has intent, and even learns to communicate with humans.
