Walked in to pick up the DVDs I bought online. Walked out with 2 magazines on healthy eating and these two books:

* Eight Faces at Three by Craig Rice (mystery; the author's debut novel back in 1939; I've read it but wanted to own it and it was just reprinted)
* The Clockmaker's Wife by Daisy Wood (WWII historical fiction; total impulse purchase followed by ordering one of the books advertised on its back pages, also totally impulsively)

Have I mentioned how I love the DollarTree? Wandered in and got The Geometry of Pasta and Caroline Kennedy’s A Family Christmas for $2.

>2 varielle: I try not to look, but I may have to go find the pasta book. You are such an enabler!

I ordered two books, both were in my mailbox yesterday. I discovered Soosh on Instagram and bought Dad By My Side unseen. I’m slightly disappointed, because the book has no full family pictures, with Mama included.

And though I am trying to discard to fit my collections into a smaller house, I am again playing with dollhouse miniatures. I can claim with some truth that I’m still “downsizing,” eh?
I bought The Big Book of a Miniature House just based on the cover image. Sigh! It’s beautiful!

No two DollarTrees seem to have the same thing so I wandered into another today and found these:

The Shelf
Paris Street Style Shoes
Gracious: A Practical Primer
Monsters of the Ivy league
Hellfire Boys
The Discreet Hero

All for $6.

>4 varielle: Those all look fascinating. The only title I would have bought at DT today was Fuzzy, but there was only one copy and it had a fatal case of sticky.

Ordered and then bought The Girl from the Island by Lorna Cook.

They make it too easy to purchase sequels on Kindle, so I couldn't stop myself and purchased The Gangster by C.S. Poe immediately after finishing The Engineer.

Enjoyed Radar Girls, so I bought Red Sky Over Hawaii by Sara Ackerman. Both are WWII historical fiction.

Still out of control. Added 2 more, both 50% off:
* Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi (contemporary Japanese lit with a fantasy twist)
* Olive Bright, Pigeoneer by Stephanie Graves (WWII historical mystery)

>10 ReneeMarie: Please let me know what you think of Before the coffee gets cold once you've finished it. This one has been on my TBR for ages...

11> If and when I read it. I have books from 1995 I haven't read yet. Sorry if it's not soon. I'm under orders right now to read Cloud Cuckoo Land so others at the bookstore can take their turn with the ARC. And I have All the Lonely People out from the library, due back this week with no renewals allowed. Yikes. Enjoying both so far.

I did start the first couple of pages of Before the Coffee Gets Cold, and it's reminding me a bit of Convenience Store Woman in general written style and point-of-view intimacy level.

One ARC (that another bookseller set aside for me, knowing my druthers!): Death at Greenway by Lori Rader-Day. Historical fiction set in WWII, due to be published 10/21.

>12 ReneeMarie: That's completely fine! No pressure... Only if you happen to read it.
I know what it's like to have tons of unread books bought in past decades on your shelves... 😬

On holidays recently, so I started book buying again...😅
On August 22, on our way across Germany by train I bought
Breasts and eggs by Mieko Kawakami and
Little eyes by Samanta Schweblin at a bookstore at Cologne Main Station.

Finally arrived at the North Sea. 😀
On holidays on our favourite German island which is blessed with a fantastic tiny independent bookstore which I usually visit 2 - 3 times a week during holidays...

On August 27 I bought (there and at one other shop)
Tess Gerritsen: The shape of night,
Torsten Sträter: Sträters Gutenachtgeschichten, (Straeter's bedtime stories - Torsten Straeter is a German comedian/writer/satirist and the book is a collection of his early (horror) stories);

Guck mal tief ins Meer (Take a deep look into the sea) - a childrens' book / gift for the little son of my friend;

Sergio Bambaren: Manatee' story - a book about manatees??? Me likes a lot!! 🤩

Still on holidays, still on my mission of supporting the little independent island bookstore. :p

Bought today:
Nicci French: The lying room,
Lesley Kara: The rumor (bought at the local grocery store, which also features a few books for beach reading),
Stanislaw Lem: Solaris,
Robert Louis Stevenson: The Wrecker.

>15 Yuki-Onna: Wow. I'm unfamiliar with The Wrecker, but it sounds fascinating.
