Just curious.

Nobody's entered that library yet, no. The 1941 catalog is three volumes and has about 10,000 items, so it would be a real project, and is still technically in copyright (though it's possible we could get permission if there is a lot of interest in working on it).

I would absolutely love to take it on, as it's a person of interest for me, but if it's still in copyright, that stinks.

>3 JBD1:

I looked up the book since I was curious. The odds of a list like this having its copyright renewed after 28 years (as required for works before 1964 in the U.S.) is very very small. It appears that it was not. Here is the link to the Stanford Copyright Renewal Database for the title which returns no renewal records.

Here is the relevant Worldcat link for the bibliography / sale catalog.

Rare books, original drawings, autograph letters and manuscrits : collected by A. Edward Newton ; removed from his home, Oak Knoll, Daylesford, Pa. ; for public sale by order of the executors ; under the will of A. Edward Newton, deceased E. Swift Newton and Brandon Barringer.
Author: A Edward Newton; Parke-Bernet Galleries.
Publisher: New York : Parke-Bernet Galleries, 1941.

I don't see any digitized copies available in the usual places, but they're not terrifically expensive books to procure ...

I found a listing of both volumes on abebooks for a good price, so I'm going to buy them next time I get paid.

>8 toast_and_tea: Yes there were three parts to the sale, in three separate volumes: see https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=31508237652 for example
