Fantasy, medieval sort of time period. The clearest thing that I can remember is that the main character is a girl whose father is a merchant (I think), but then their house burns down and they move into a shack on the outskirts of town. She works in an apothecary and ends up going on a quest with a boy in town as well with a necklace? I read it maybe 5/6 years ago, I was probably 10. I wish I could remember more details!
