I can't remember much about the book:
A young girl in modern times (mixed ethnicity/race) sees ghosts or at least a ghost. The ghost in question could have been either a civil war or buffalo soldier. This soldier was maybe trying to lead her to a field? There were other people involved who were also doing illegal things there perhaps- and she was getting in trouble with these folks.
I remember the cover had a floating civil war uniform (no ghost visible, just the uniform- maybe a canon too?). The cover picture was at nighttime and there was a lot of blue on that cover.
On the back cover, the female author's picture looked a bit new age or Gothic.
This story could have been one in a trilogy perhaps.
I must have read this book anywhere from the year 2000 to 2007
Your help is greatly appreciated!!! :-)

>9 Aquila: OMG! That's it!!!!! I can't believe you've found it! Wow, my memory served me mostly right on the cover. The uniform without a visible ghost and the Canon in the background. Turned out to be more purple than blue on the cover though. That's utterly amazing! I look forward to getting back to reading these. You have my mist sincere thanks and gratitude!!! Eric
