Hello, I have read this book as a teenager, maybe sometime between 2004-2008? So the book has to be older than that.
I am not sure if it was a Harlequin romance. All I remember that there was a young woman who was visiting (helping?) this guy who I think suffered some accident and he had some scars on his face. I also think there was some age gap, where he was older than her. Now I am just throwing in stuff that I am not so sure about, but I think she lived with her father who dies later in the book and I have some scene stuck in my head where she has to get somewhere by a small boat? Honestly, these last bits might be what's ruining my search hahah.
If any of this rings a bell, I would be eternally thankful, as it would end on of my occasional frustrations from times before kindle :D

Not a Harlequin, but a lot of this happens in Beauty by Susan Wilson. Touchstone went to wrong book title.
