Recommendation requested for some contemporary literary fiction

Hi Book Lovers!

The wife and I have hit a lull in our writing schedule, and we decided to pick up some recent novels on the "hot" list in contemporary / literary fiction. We've been busy writing our own novel, and we haven't kept up with what's going on in the literary market.

I snagged a copy of Fredrik Backman's _Anxious People_, and I rather like it. It's got a quirky plot (bank robber fails to rob a bank, forced into a hostage situation, but goes missing when the situation is resolved) and multiple characters with devoted storylines that are intertwined into the main plot. The story mixes funny moments with tragic events and the narrator weaves it together with a dry wit about the foibles of the characters. Love the quirky plot; multiple, intertwining storylines; and wide spectrum of tone! The wife has cracked the book open, and she likes it, too!

On the other hand, my wife got Gail Honeyman's _Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine_. It is very well written, and Eleanor's character is a great mix of sympathetic and infuriating. However, my wife has a bit of pet peeve about 1st person narratives (Eleanor is the narrator)--they're not my favorite either.

I want to surprise the wife with a suggestion of a recent-ish novel that is similar to Backman's (quirky plot; multiple, intertwining storylines; and wide spectrum of tone, AND uses a 3rd person narrator). Secretly, I think she just wants a Jane Austen story with a contemporary setting! So, any recommendations that involve a woman writer would be a bonus.

Hopefully, this isn't too much of an ask. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Margaret Atwood's Hag-Seed might be enjoyable, especially if you brush up on the plot of Shakespeare's The Tempest first, though that's probably not necessary to enjoy it. Multiple p-o-vs, quirky, twists galore, literary as all get out.

My wife's opinion on _Eleanor Oliphant_ has not improved as she has progressed... She'll want another read, I think.

Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts by Kate Racculia has a great cast of characters, multiple POVs, and a mystery to boot.
