Awards and honors drop down box lagging

I know this is not a bug but I don't really know where to put this.

Ok here is the story. I have been working on Audie Award Finalist for well over a month and currently there are over 900 works that I have entered.

Now type in "audie" into this field and you get 11 !!!!!!!!!!! for audie winner (+542 works) and nil (yes none) zilch for Audie Award Finalist. It appears but no !!!!.

Now we get to the common knowledge clouds.

Audie Winner(454) (lagging)
Audie Award Finalist (NIL, ZILCH, ZERO).

I am doing all this in google crome on a computer so nothing and using a mouse.

I have often noticed that the drop down boxes are way behind the reality in nearly every field in CK.

Can you clarify for me exactly where you're typing this? Is it a search field, or something else? I'll need to get more details on this before I can pass it to developers for a look, thanks so much.

Go to any book you like

Go down to the CK items for this book

Go to awards and honors

Type in Audie , See what comes up. First item is audie winner with 11 or 12 !!!!!!!!!!!! (500+)

Audie award finalist is the third item with no !!!!!!... However it has more entries than Audie winner (900+)

Okay, thanks for this.

For developers:

  • Click to add a CK "Awards and honors" item, and search for "audie" in the field. A drop-down of matches and relative popularity should appear below. Note the relative popularity of "Audie Winner" and "Audie Award Finalist", which are not accurate. Conclusion: Relative popularity of CK Awards and honors is not being updated often enough (not sure if this is one of our manual processes or not, so maybe not a bug but a request?)

  • Go to https://www.librarything.com/commonknowledge/clouds.php and view the Top X awards for works cloud. Click to view the numbers (the buttons at the right). Now search for "audie" and see that "Audie Winner" has 452 works instead of the current number, and "Audie Award Finalist" is missing. So, same situation as line item above: is this a bug or simply not getting updated often enough?

Thanks so much. You expressed this so much better than I did.

As regards point one , as I think, I am one of the major Awards and honors contributor I do notice that this happens very often.
As regards point two there is really a major "lag" in nearly all the clouds eg awards, countries, eduction etc

Sorry, what are you saying in >6 bergs47:, re: "33 Titles Order" with a few titles after?

If you're looking for an update on this bug, I alerted developers and will remind timspalding about this one.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. We're aware of this bug and it has not yet been fixed, but I've let timspalding know. We'll report back on this thread with updates. Thanks for your patience!

Hi Its now 4 weeks since I reported this and
Book awards: Audie Award Finalist are standing at 1300+. This must be at least in the top 100 awards category. Any progress

>9 kristilabrie: Good Morning. Its now over a month since I wrote to you and Audie Award Finalist are now complete with over 2000 entries. Alas the drop down box does not show as the first entry.

Furthermore in "clouds" this should appear in the top 50 , yet it does not appear at all.

While doing this task I found found numerous other errors. I have entered Australia at least 6 times and yet it does not appear even once in related places. I have entered George bush a number of times and he does not appear in Related people/characters even once.

There seems to be a big problem in clouds as well as Awards and honors.

Will this ever be attended to?

The process to update the relative counts happens every third day. But it doesn't seem to be doing it here.

I'm investigating.

Can you explain what you mean? It seems to be working for me. When I go to a book and type "Audie" it gives me a list headed with "Audie Award Finalist," followed by "Audie Winner." The first and former have more books than the latter. The rest have been used at one time or another, but none are currently used, so they come after.

I have refreshed the clouds. They would have reset soon anyway, but I pushed a refresh.

I posted in Common Knowledge before I saw this thread, but I think this is related: The last couple of days I've noticed some odd behaviour in drop-downs when adding characters, for example today when adding Winston Churchill (which used to be the top suggestion for Winston), it suggests Winston Duarte, Winston Zeddemore, and a host of other Winstons before getting to the one we've all heard of. Not sure if this is a bug or an "improvement".

Investigating.

Yes, I think we're good now. I also changed the algorithm that displays the bars, to even them out a bit.

Top 50 awards for works
ALA Notable Children's Book(2,038) ALA Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults(1,948) ALA Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers(1,908) BCCB Blue Ribbon Book(973) Bank Street CBC Best Children's Book of the Year(4,807)

Should be good now. You found an interesting bug! :)

ALA Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers(1,908) Audie Award Finalist(2,066) BCCB Blue Ribbon Book(973)

Although I don't know where you got 2066

Works (2,020)
87 Titles

Also within this awards I have Australia at least 6 times as a place name and George Bush 4 times as a person. Yet they don't appear once. What I am implying is that Related people/characters is totally incorrect as well as Related places. In fact the only thing that I think is correct is related series. I cant prove this unless I look at each and every book and see which has Australia as a place name. Too much hard work.

What seems to happen is that as soon as you have more than 100 it stops updating any new places added

I think I am one of the leading CK contributors to the awards category so I get a gut feel whats wrong
