Unfortunately what I can remember is quite vague. It's a childrens book that I had at somepoint between 2004-2007. It had either full page or almost full page illustrations that were very detailed and realistic, in what I think was coloured pencil.
I dont know what the plot was, other than that my mum said it wasnt that interesting but I liked looking at the pictures.
The only page I remember is, a side low view of a table with lots of things on it, there was a group of marbles which were beautifully drawn (or at least I thought so at the time). It was a flat surface so it may have been a wooden floor rather than a table? There was also a sleeping brown cat at somepoint which was the other illustration I liked, but I dont know if it is on the same page
It might have been set at a shop?
I've tried numerous searches, but unsurprisingly cant find anything similar. I'm not expecting anyone else to know what I'm talking about, but it doesnt hurt to try

>1 rhipheus: Seems like I saw it and the illustration remind me of Tim Bowers or Van Allsburg. Could it be The Misadventures of Sweetie Pie?

Was it possibly George Shrinks by William Joyce? I don't remember the marbles specifically, but there were a lot of low angles and toys, and a brownish cat.
