When I want to import an image a right click used to offer an option "Copy image address".
Now it offers a huge list of options I have never heard of but not the one I want. Where am I going wrong?

>7 lilithcat: I am not good at all this and my internet connection is a joke.
I appear to have Microrsoft Edge (is that a browser) but I only have half of it because it is forever telling me that it can't update.

Yes, that's a browser!
Can you tell us where on LT this image is? A link really would help.
Also, is this the only image with which you have this problem, or does it happen with others?

From Popular snagged pictures
ETA It is the same on every image. (Just tried)
Used to be a right click produced a menu that included "copy image address". Now it is not even the same menu. I'm lost. :-)

Is it happening with all the images on that page, or just one in particular? If it's just one, could you tell us which one it is?

>5 Jammy1: I’ve got an ancient laptop and poor internet connection too. I’ve found that Google Chrome works best. Microsoft Edge is a loser choice. Go to the Google homepage and you can probably download Chrome from there. And it will have the right click choices that you need.

My feelings exactly. I am sure I did not invite Microsoft Edge onto this old laptop (I have been using it since the year dot) and it was using Chrome, where that came from I can't say. Probably one of my kids put it there.
It now appears it is going to be beyond me to get it all back again.
Getting a new laptop would not really sort the problem by the look of things and I don't think I could face all that.

>15 Jammy1: If you upgraded/updated your Windows at some point, the thing probably came in replacing the old IE and becoming a pest if you did not tell it not to... And from what you are describing, it sounds like your Edge picked up a friend on the way as well (a plugin of some type)...
Let's try something. Go to https://www.google.com/chrome/
Does the page recognize your OS and do you see the download button in the middle of the screen. If so, click on it - and just agree to it to install and become the default browser. That will get you the latest chrome and then you should be able to use it...

>16 AnnieMod: Thanks. Followed that and it looks like I now have chrome as my browser. Laptop seemed to throw everything it could in the way, but we struggled on.
Now well past midnight here and need sleep. Will fight again in the morning.

We’ll help you eliminate Edge tomorrow. Things will smooth out. I resisted being tied to Google when IE pooped out, and tried several others before giving in.

>18 2wonderY: Well, I think I have some little progress. I now have the chrome symbol on the baseline of my screen and not the MS Edge one. My shortcuts on my desktop still have MS symbols though.

>19 Jammy1: Your icons reflect that your computer’s operating system is MS Windows based. Back in the day, Internet Explorer was the default browser choice. I don’t understand why other browsing systems now compete with each other. Who pays for them? They seem cost-free to the consumer. Perhaps someone more versed can explain to both of us.

>19 Jammy1: what opens when you click on them? If chrome - don’t worry. :)

Hi: When I click on desktop shortcut MS icons I get what I should. I also now have a chrome icon there too. If I click this, I get the chrome browser menu (very smart)
There is also an option (top LH) to "Make Chrome Your Browser." I have selected this a couple of times but it seems to be blocked.

>22 Jammy1: There may be a policy or a lock on the OS level :( Hard to diagnose over a thread :)
But if things now open in Chrome and you can see things properly, just ignore all that and have fun :)

>25 Jammy1: Can you post a few of the menu options you are seeing when you right click on the image? It almost sounds like you had turned on an accessibility module or something like that (or you got something nasty from somewhere :().

>26 AnnieMod: Trying to copy the list is as hard as trying to copy the image. The list gives 12 options starting; "open link to new tab" and ending; "inspect".

Huh. I'm so sorry you're still having troubles.
I'm on Chrome now. When I go to the popular snagged pictures page, and right click on one of the thumbnails, I get a list as you describe, but third up from the bottom is 'copy image address.' If i go to the larger image and right click, there is a shorter list and 'copy image address' is smack in the middle.

Jammy1 (#27):
That's similar to what I see if the image is also a link vs. just a plain image, but I do have the "Copy image address" option in the menu:
Other than "Copy image address", which of those are you missing? It sounds like something is locked down on your system, and that might help us narrow it down for you.

"Copy image link" does nothing when clicked.
"Copy image address" would allow the image to be imported to wherever I posted it.

Copy image address and copy image link should be the same thing. What happens when you use copy image link and then paste it into notepad?

Are you expecting a box to open so you can highlight the url? That’s how IE operated. Clicking on the address or link choice in the first box functions as a ‘control C’ action.
Go to where you want it put and do ‘control V.”

Thanks so much for all you interest. Microsoft are now intrudingly flashing me every hour to “Reinstall Edge” and I have decided they can stick it where the sun don’t shine.
As one of the first users of the “Information Highway” it is heartbreaking to see the deterioration. I’m going to jump clear before their inky fingers creep into my books. Sadly, the game is not worth the candle.
