How to add book/author links within LibraryThing

How to add book links? When people discuss a book and author, they're able to add the book (link) and author from LibraryThing.
How do you do this?

When you are entering a book, author, or series, you put brackets around the title.
Single brackets for book
Double brackets for author
Triple Brackets for series.

IF you look on the right side of the Add a Message box, you'll see the examples of how it's done.

Check that the right book/author is being linked. If not, you can click on 'others' and find the right one.

This was very helpful and I have utilized it right away. However, I have one book and author that it did not work for? Any steps as to what to do next when the brackets don't bring up any options for links?

No it is an older book and a well established author. Nature Girl Carl Hiaasen Interesting. It worked here so I will go back and see what I did wrong. I already double-checked for user error but no harm triple checking. haha :)

It was working on my other post as well. And now I see that you were referring not to whether the book was just added to the site but as to whether I had just added the brackets to the book/author on my post. Since all the others had worked immediately i had not expected the delay. Thanks for your patience with the tech challenged. :)

No, I meant added to the site as a record. If it can be found by regular site search, it should be available as touchstone. Sometimes, site search is down for a short while too, but then none of the touchstones are found, not just one particular book.
