>189 kac522: Reread in January of this year as a follow-up to storming of US Capitol. A rather muted Dickens novel, but not without insight into the complexity of crowd psychology. Had just finished Ainsworth’s Old St. Paul’s, an historical novel by a very popular contemporary of Dickens’, and found it extremely wooden and dated, so I appreciated the more Dickens’ attempts to find contemporary relevance in writing about the past. Now about two-thirds of the way through David Copperfield. (877 pages).
