Why would a grammar Nazi, thread Nazi, and group Nazi care about media Nazis? Afraid of outside competition disrupting their own efforts at thought control?

The root of authoritarians' woe is that they can't control their own thoughts long enough to indulge in reason, so they want to control everyone else's to indulge their need for power.

Some people are just in love with the look of their own posts.

No one can think for themselves but self-congratulatory right wingers. Everyone else is a robot with the same tape loop spinning endlessly in their brains.

The National Finals Rodeo ended tonight. An amazing 10 runs for the woman who won the Gold Buckle in the Barrel Racing.

>7 Limelite: Those posts are sheer poetry! Gems of eloquence! Masterpieces of taut and logical thought! And always, always, correct.

Yet the dirty and disreputable masses here insist upon replying with our stupid and unenlightened drivel. Humph.

>1 Earthling1:

I've watched this video and it makes no sense whatsoever to me. Unless it's supposed to be a piece of propaganda for a particular viewpoint, in which case it's a very poor one, and is unlikely to persuade any thinking person.

>2 Earthling1:

A similar but longer piece of nonsense by the same propagandist, also very unconvincing.

If these are both examples of how the media tries to "control" people, then it's a sad comment on society that so many right wingers actually appear to be controlled by this type of nonsense. Reminds me of the time Neil Kinnock lost the 1992 general election in the UK reputedly because of a headline in Rupert Murdoch's Sun newspaper, "If Kinnock wins today will the last person to leave Britain please turn out the lights". Funny how it's usually right wingers who produce this type of propaganda and right wingers who fall for it.

What's the total now? Grammar Nazi, Thread Nazi, Group Nazi, Media Nazi, Echo Nazi, and Thought Nazi!

Forget Hitler, kick Trump in his rump, if you want to see authoritarianism, this is where you come.

tRUMP IS vulgar. Calling people "motherfuckers" - that is vulgar, right?

20Limelite
Déc 14, 2020, 10:10 pm

I wouldn't be surprised if some Trump supporters would be delighted if Trump grabbed their girlfriends, wives, and moms by what the Orange Shitegibbon boasted is "the p*ssy." You know -- celebrity groper stardom by association. After all, the guy can do no wrong in their eyes. Better than an autograph 'cause Trump will sign anything, including the nose on his face.

Of course I don't think Trump is vulgar. Vulgar doesn't begin to describe what a vile filthy sac of a pornographic philistine he is.

>20 Limelite:

A few years ago when some Republican candidate or other was standing for some office or other in some state or other and it came to light that he had previously inappropriately dated 14 year old girls when he was district attorney or something, thankfully he lost the election to a Democrat who did not have a record of sexually assaulting underage girls. But I watched a news report where they interviewed a couple of local parents saying that any parent would have been proud that their fourteen year old daughter was being dated by the DA. So yes, you're probably right that some people would be "delighted" if an authority figure were to commit sexual assault. That probably partly explains how so many of the rich and powerful got away with sexual assault for so long until the Me Too movement started to break down not only the wall of silence but the wall of approval of such criminal behaviour.

AL, 2017 US Senate race for remainder of Jeff Sessions' term. Doug Jones (D) defeated pederast Roy Moore (R). Naturally, the "good people" of AL got rid of a decent and qualified senator in favor of a former state college football coach whose total education for the job is a B.S. degree in phys ed from some institution called Southern Arkansas U. A school I never heard of until I looked him up. He's infamous a la Gen. Patton for slapping one of his asst. coaches in the face during a game. He took a break from college football coaching long enough to be sued for fraud, but he wormed out of that by claiming his co-defendant also defrauded him. Like Trump, he established a personal charity supposedly dedicated to helping vets, but only a third of the money ever got to them. The other two-thirds? Who knows? He's probably most famous on the international stage as the ignoramus American who thought WWII in Europe was fought to defeat socialism. In sum, he's a true Southern rube.

It's fucking al-e-bam-er. They usually wind up with the precise representation they so righteously deserve.

Doug Jones was a one-off that will probably not happen again for the foreseeable future. He is actually too decent a human being to be living in al-e-bam-er.

Alabama loves the fact that Mississippi is also a state in the US, because Mississippi makes it hard to say Alabama is the worst state in the nation. When a right-winger used Seattle as an example of a city run by Democrats, Birmingham was my go-to city for an example of a city run by Republicans.

Claim of anti-conservative bias by social media firms is baseless, report finds (Guardian)

Republicans including Donald Trump have raged against Twitter and Facebook in recent months, alleging anti-conservative bias, censorship and a silencing of free speech. According to a new report from New York University, none of that is true. Disinformation expert Paul Barrett and researcher J Grant Sims found that far from suppressing conservatives, social media platforms have, through algorithms, amplified rightwing voices, “often affording conservatives greater reach than liberal or nonpartisan content creators”...

In a race to the bottom al-e-bam-er is very competitive with West Virginia, Arkansas and Mississippi. al-e-bam-er has an higher average income, sure, but not by that much. The bar is set pretty low.

The one place the other shitty states beat al-e-bam-er would be governors, I would say. E.g., most of Mississippi's recent governors have been useless assholes, no argument there, but governors of al-e-bam-er tend to be criminals that generally get convicted and sent to a penitentiary.

I live in North Carolina now. It is sort of like an unholy mixture of heaven and hell - unlike Arkansas-Mississippi-al-e-bam-er, which are all just pure hell.
