Link to Series page in catalog?

Is there a way to set the catalog to link to a series page? My club library has a multi year subscription to a journal and I would like to link to the entire run rather than individual issues. I do understand that LibraryThing isn't really designed for journal cataloging so I guess I'm trying to hack the system a bit.

Here's an example of what I mean by "a series page" https://www.librarything.com/series/National+Geographic+Magazine

I'm hoping that it would then link to the individual journals in my collection. This may be impossible but I figure no harm in asking.

Thanks for your help.

You can add the "Series" data column to any one of your five display Styles (the A through E buttons in the Top Bar of "Your books" catalog page), which will include live links to the full Series pages: https://www.librarything.com/settings/styles#commonknowledge. You wouldn't be able to link from the full Series page back to your individual edition/s, but you can at least see the full Series from your catalog. I hope this helps!

Oh sorry, I should I not have put it in the TinyCat group? I'm trying to figure out how to have it work within my catalog. I guess since it's all connected I thought I would ask in this group. If there is a better way to show journals in the catalog I would love to be pointed to that information.

No, it's fine, if that's what you are using.

I think >3 MarthaJeanne: mentioned that because TinyCat functions differently from regular catalogs and so doesn't have the different display styles that >2 kristilabrie: talked about.

Each entry in your catalog must be a book; it cannot be a series.

>6 jjwilson61: I think what they want is for, when viewing the TinyCat page for a book/issue they own which is part of a series, for the TinyCat page to include a link directly to a series page to see the other books/issues they own in that series.

To do that, I'm guessing you would need to give the books/issues all the same tag representing the series title, to make this available while staying within your TinyCat catalog (clicking on a tag on a TinyCat book page takes you to everything else with that tag which is held by that TinyCat library).

You could also HTML-code a link to the LibraryThing series page into your comments field (displayed on TinyCat as 'Local Notes' if enabled), but then there's no easy way for patrons to get back to the particular library's catalog entries from other books/issues in that series.

>3 MarthaJeanne: Oops, I missed that part!

In that case, >7 Opteryx: is right: "You could also HTML-code a link to the LibraryThing series page into your comments field (displayed on TinyCat as 'Local Notes' if enabled), but then there's no easy way for patrons to get back to the particular library's catalog entries from other books/issues in that series."

TinyCat will link to series within your own catalog—you can include Series on your Search and Detail pages—but you must link to LT if you want the other general information about the series.
