Hello, all!

I plan on finally tackling Don Quixote, after all these years. What do you think is the best translation into English?

Thanks in advance!

The Edith Grossman translation has been widely praised. I haven't read it, though, so can't vouch for it.

I found the Smollett translation hard going.

I liked Edith Grossman's.

I listened to the Grossman translation on unabridged audiobook, and liked it a lot.

I have no insight to provide regarding translations, but just a word of encouragement. I have Don Quixote on my short list of the funniest books I've ever read. Enjoy!

I read the Signet Classics edition which feature's Tom Lathrop's translation which I thoroughly enjoyed although no one ever mentions him at all. Have fun with Don Quixote; it's very fun!

Have not read it yet but I bought the Grossman translation based on my research at the time.

Thanks for your advice, everyone! I think I'm going to go with Grossman's translation. I'm definitely excited to begin the journey of reading Dox Quixote for the first time!
