The Loss of Bookstores in Southern Maryland

I thought I'd try to revive this group a little with talk of bookstores.

I know Bay Books closed like 7 years ago.
Second Look Books closed last year.
Borders went out but thankfully Books a Million took their space.

(Fenwick Street Used Books just changed spaces this month. A bit bigger than their old one I think.)

It feels like the southern Maryland region is losing more bookstores than it's keeping.
Are other parts of the state seeing the same problem (even prior to the Pandemic)?

It's definitely been a long while since this thread was active!

Borders closed in my part of central Maryland; it was replaced by TJ Maxx. Barnes & Noble remains in business.
Curious Iguana in Frederick is thriving. Novel Books in Clarksburg, MD is open for now but didn't qualify for aid.

Books with a Past in Glenwood/Western Howard County is still open, though they did shrink a bit a couple of years ago.

>1 gilroy: Hi Brett! It's been a long time!!

The three book stores nearest me are still open. I'm in Rockville, Nearest me is a Barnes & Noble that will be changing locations. There is a Second Story Books not too far away. There is also my favorite...the Friends of the Library BookStore on Boiling Brook Parkway.
