Hi, I'm new here would like to find this book which I read in high school days before 1997 .
Historical romance set in frontier/ colonial America Heroine is on the way to marry her fiance at a far flung frontier post/ fort. On arrival or on just at the point of reaching she is kidnapped by an ex soldier seeking revenge on the fiancee who turns out to be coward n betrayed. Turns out the ex soldier is more inclined towards the Native Indians who is family bcos his wife was one.The wife was killed in some scuffle or betrayal plan carried out by the fiancee. So ex soldier kidnapped the heroine to exact similar revenge on fiancee. Ex soldier is now running from the law , teaches the heroine to survive in the wild Indian style , finally returning her to the fort ready to surrender. She pities his loss of his wife n return to the fort but manages to allow him to escape. Fiancee is now reluctant to marry her because she was with soldier for a while and has turned sympathetic to him. Turns out fiancee is not a popular guy.....the heroine needs to marry for safety in this outpost....so a 3rd guy who turns out be the hero steps up to marry her. She is reluctant to him but no choice n they marry n set out on a honeymoon for a week in the wild. The Hero is good to her n respectful n enlightens her on the backstory of the fiancee n exsoldier. Hero falls seriously ill n she nurses him bk with an encounter between the hero n exsoldier seeking confrontation based on principle standing on opposite sides of the cause. Heroine protects hero from exsoldier based on her friendship to him.....all of this problems roots back to the fiancee as cause of enmity between the indians n frontier fort.
Finally heroine figures she loves hero
Weird thing was so much detail given to everyone but the hero.....couldn't figure out why....so would like to re read to find if it was so.....n cant remember the romance building between hero n heroine
