My first big book of 2020 just squeaks by at 508 pages. Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang, is a powerful story I will never forget. It is the story of the author, her mother and grandmother, living through the twentieth century from the days of the warlords, the occupation of Japan and Russia, Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang, and the insanity of Mao’s Communist reign. Highly recommended.

Thank you both for your welcome to the group. I took a big gulp before joining! Reading a big book is sometimes a challenge as well as a commitment. Joining up is a good incentive to pick up the books I somehow put off reading because of their size. My husband has been trying to get me to read Don Quixote for years. So 2020 is it!
