The "Let's trade!" thread, as well as the one on secondhand bookstores, got me thinking that it might be neat to form a "network" of-sorts to help us acquire some of the books we've been dying to find.

Of course, this doesn't include editions like the Gutenberg Bible or a First Folio from Shakespeare but something with a remote possibility of having shown up on these shores.

We should also specify if we're looking for certain editions, whether we want them brand-new, etc., to help streamline the process.

So, a preliminary list, and I don't mind secondhand copies as long as they're not falling apart. Take note, by the way, that these are authors whose books often appear here, and yet I have no luck whatsoever hunting for these specific titles and editions.

LIST

a hardcover of Peter Straub's Houses Without Doors (and any edition, though I'd love a hardcover too, of Straub's Magic Terror)

a secondhand paperback of John Le Carre's Smiley's People (or a hardcover omnibus that collects that novel along with The Honourable Schoolboy and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

any UK edition of Alastair Reynolds's Diamond Dogs/Turquoise Days (the US paperbacks published by Ace are available in NBS/Powerbooks, but they certainly have pretty lousy production non-values, at least in my opinion)

Joel Lane's From Blue to Black (one of my biggest frustrations given that there were once several copies of this in NBS-Cubao...but not anymore)

Ramsey Campbell's The Nameless (especially if it's the "final version" published in 1985)

anything by William Browning Spencer other than Zod Wallop, which I already have

Great idea. We could also use this list to multiply our "eyes" in the bookstores - i.e. you're in Booksale, you recognize a book from this list, so you post immediately on this thread to tell the list-maker where he can find the book he's looking for.

No luck for me on those titles I've listed above, but the rest of you might be more fortunate, so please feel free to list down anything you might be looking for, so we can keep our eyes open.

Swerte ang mga taga.dumaguete. I know of 4 places you can find a good book if you dont mind shifting through dusty shelves. I got Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy for 30 pesos :) Anybody know the cheapest way to send 2-3 paperbacks?

It looks like this thread has fallen asleep but I'll still post here. To answer message 4: the cheapest way to send 2-3 paperbacks would probably be by Aboitiz in their medium or large envelop. I can't remember the cost off the top of my head but it seemed truly reasonable, like under P200, closer P150, as long as it fits in the bag.

I'm looking for a copy of Kerima Polotan's The Hand of the Enemy. Preferably in mint condition, but realistically, I'll settle for one in fair to good condition.

Why don't you guys try to get these books from BookMooch? I've gotten a lot of hard-to-find books from there (like books in foreign languages).
