All Transaction report: Item Call Number

First let me say I love the new spreadsheet of all transcations; it really is very helpful to us keeping our monthly statistics. I have one question: currently the Item Call Number returned in the report is the Dewey number, but our library uses its own personal call number system. Is there a way to get this data either instead of or in addition to the Dewey Call number?

Thank you!

An additional question: I would like to see a list of the return date, which is showing up in this of transactions but not in the Export Transactions for either All or By Title. We want to use this to evaluate what books are not being checked out for weeding purposes. Is this possible?

Thank you!

>1 SunnysideCC: Thanks for the report! I can confirm this bug. I've made a report for developers to look into and fix, and will post here with any updates.

>2 SunnysideCC: I'm not sure I'm following your question here. In "All Transactions", we show "Returned" statuses and the status/item entry date for that status. What are you looking for, exactly? Thanks for clarifying!

I am looking for a field that lists the returned date. I get a Item Due Date and an Item Entry Date in the spreadsheet, but those are the only dates I can see in the report. The Item Entry Date seems to be the date the book was entered into TinyCat, not when it last circulated. While I can tell which listings are returned, I cannot tell when they were returned. This date would allow me to determine how long it has been since an book as circulated. I know this data exists as I can see it in the Transactions display. If I am doing this wrong, please let me know.

Thank you!

Okay, got it.

Can you give me the page URL where you're getting an exported spreadsheet, so I know exactly where you're looking? Thanks!

Sorry for the delay; the url is https://www.librarycat.org/admin/transactions#

Okay. Which export are you using? "All Transactions", "Active Transactions", etc.? Our exported transactions, as I mentioned in >3 kristilabrie:, should show "Returned" statuses in your export and the date of each return. Let me know which export you're using and if you're seeing any discrepancies between your Transactions page/s and your exported spreadsheet, and I'll take a closer look, thanks!

I just did another export of All Transactions and got 2 fields with dates: Item Entry date and Item Due Date. In the Item Status field it does show Returned items, but there is not date for when they are returned and that is the data we need for weeding. Our Tiny Cat is less than a year old, so Checked Out date will not help with this issue. We entered a returned date for all the books in our collection hoping we could use the Transaction Export to find the books that had not been checked out in a few years.

I also tested Transactions All Titles Export and got the same fields. I would send snap shots of the exports, but there does not seem to be a way to add images.

Under Transactions/Statuses, I see that Returned is under "Inactive Custom". Is there a setting I need to change so Returned is Active? Perhaps that is the issue?

Thank you!

>8 SunnysideCC: Can you perhaps email me your exported file so I can take a look and be of better assistance? If you can, send to tinycat@librarything.com (if you can refer to this thread, too, please) and I'll take a look. Thanks!

I am having the same problem - dates are not being displayed in the exported .csv document for All Transactions. Our library is moving from a paper based Circulation system and I've retrospectively keyed in each item with patron, checkout date and checkin date, and saved each one. When I export all transactions to a .csv document only a few dates appear but when I look at the list of transactions on Tinycat every item has these dates, so they are in the system.

Also, in Statuses the Returned status is listed as Inactive Custom with an x beside it. How can I move that to the Active statuses? Under Actives statuses I only have Overdue and Checked out.

Thanks.

Just following up here that the Item Call Number is now pulling from the field you've selected in your TinyCat's call number system settings on https://www.librarycat.org/settings/circsettings. Hope this helps!

The Item Call number in the Items not Lent report has the same problem: it only lists the Dewey number even though the call no system setting is Library of Congress. I am attempting to create a shelf order list. Is there a better way?

Ah, thanks for the note! I'll pass this along to developers to get a fix in place.

Re: getting a shelf order list, you can always try sorting your catalog on LibraryThing's end (the "Your books" page) by Call number and using the printer button to get a printable version of your catalog in that sort order, or you could export your entire library and sort by call number. See your export options here: https://www.librarything.com/more/import. Hope this helps in the meantime.
