Any interest in Sidney Lanier, our one-time poet laureate. How about any of the poets laureate?

>2 Muscogulus: Muscogulus, I apologize for bringing this up when I had no idea of the expectations associated with making a suggestion. I really don't know about his papers or library, but I have always found him interesting, and I remember an intriguing Science Fiction novel which referred to him many times. That was Macroscope by Piers Anthony}

I'll look for his library a little. I would be willing to work on this project, if I had a little guidance.

I note that there are additional materials at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Here is an interesting item from the Johns Hopkins collection: Titles of books owned by the Laniers removed from Special Collections. This is among the papers of Lanier's wife, Mary Day Lanier.

There is also Items removed from books owned by MDL. I don't think this is a list of book titles, though; more likely it's a collections of slips of paper that were found between the pages of books.

If Baltimore is convenient to anyone here, these items can be requested from the above pages. You have to register as a researcher.

BTW there is a Lanier bookplate in the collection, which might make a good graphic motif for the LL if JHU is agreeable to its use.

The Lanier papers at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta are not as minutely cataloged. There might be something. That's the collection closest to me.

The UNC Chapel Hill collection contains material for a book about Lanier. All of the material seems to date from after the poet's death.
