Recently I've noticed that the tabs at the top of the page (Home, Profile, Your Books and so on) do not appear when I'm in 'Your Books' in Safari (on an iMac). This means that to navigate LT from there, I have to click on my user name to go back to my home page to make the tabs reappear.
I don't see this issue in Firefox.

Which version of Safari are you using? I have 12.1 (OS 10.12.6), and I am seeing the tabs.

I'm on Mojave (10.14.4) and Safari 12.1 and haven't seen this issue before, and I only ever use Your books and Talk really....
Do you have any extensions active? (I personally have Ghostery Lite active and that doesn't interfere)

ETA: so I don't have any (as far as I know).

This happens to me too, sometimes. Has been for a while, too. Years, if memory serves. Windows 7, Chrome (usually the latest version).
Edit for more information: This happens frequently when I middle-click a tag to open in a new tab.

What you posted is normal - you specifically went to catalog_bottom - this is what you asked LT to show you

Not seeing this on my iPad.

this is what you asked LT to show you
Sure: in the trivial sense that this apparently is LT's default behaviour when opening a tag list in a new tab. It's behaviour I could do without. Is there any way I could change that (without manually deleting "_bottom" from the url)?

If you are clicking from inside of the catalog - not really - because these links are designed to work inside of the frame (if they do not have the _bottom, it will show a double bar). That's why the address bar does not change when you filter by the tag. A redesign of the page allowing for the click to reload the complete page is needed.

Behavior in Chrome:
* Tabs are present when opening the catalog
* Tabs are present when clicking on a tag within the catalog
* Tabs are absent when opening a tag subset in a new tab (command-click on my Mac, apparently middle-click on a PC)
This is 100% consistent with the "inside of a frame" behavior as detailed by AnnieMod in #11.

Ah. This is likely because it's opening outside the frameset used on the catalog page. We'll take a look.
14conceptDawg
Fixed.

I assume >6 Petroglyph: is slightly different to >1 humouress:? I'm just using my tracker pad to position the pointer over the LT tab and click. So from here, I could go to Groups or Home and the tabs would still show, but not if I go to Your Books. I still lose the tabs if I go to that page.
Unless I need to log out of LT or power down my computer (I usually just put it into sleep mode)?

It seems the two issues are different, indeed. Do you want to reopen the bug report?
