Does anyone hang out here at all?

Anyone here from Chicago? There's a flying course offered through the Discovery Center that I've had my eye on -- just wondering if anyone is familiar with it and could recommend it.... or something better...? I don't have much money to invest. I just want to experience being at the controls...

Hi, paulacs.

Here's the updated aviation resources page on Bruce's web site.

This group has never been very active, save for a discussion about books on aviation history. You'll probably have to look elsewhere for talk about aviation in general (i.e., topics that don't involve books).

If you're interested in pursuing your private pilot certificate, let me know via a comment on my profile page and I'll be happy to share my own approach so far.

Thanks Neummy!

Looks as though I could take lessons in my hometown! -- which just happens to be the oldest still-operating airport in the state of Illinois.

I don't know that I could go through extensive training right now -- too much on my plate. Mostly, I thought, well, like at the Discovery Center.. a weekend... something like that...

It would be fantastic to find a place that gave rides -- like during the barnstorming days! But I suppose that's too much of a liability now...
A Curtiss Jenny would be preferable. :)

anyway, thanks!
