Just started Only Time Will Tell first volume of the Clifton Chronicles by Jeffrey Archer. Looks like I've just committed myself to a 7-book binge :)

Any of you familiar with the series...do you know roughly the decade/time frame each book spans?

Starting year for each volume (and the story is fully linear):

Volume 1 - 1919
Volume 2 - 1939
Volume 3 - 1945
Volume 4 - 1957
Volume 5 - 1964
Volume 6 - 1970
Volume 7 - 1978 - spans into the 90s (I think) - I can check where it ends tonight.

Thanks! Been a long time since I read any of his; forgot how quickly he pulls you into the drama.

Oh yeah - and because of where it is set, he weaves the history of Great Britain in the 20th century - including all the political leaders and some European history where applicable. Some story lines starting in the first book do not get resolved until the last one :)

Halfway the last volume now - I am sorry it is almost done (even if that last volume is a lot slower, I actually enjoy it).

Happy reading!

I have had a nodding acquaintance with some of his standalone novels over the years; I remember liking As the Crow Flies a great deal; and I know I read and liked First Among Equals, though it's been so long I can't remember details.

Oh...my....Hugo Barrington! He's a mean one, Mr. Grinch!
