I wanted to start a thread for anyone to post on if a discussion here actually converted them. If someone's arguement was good enough to get you to give a book another try and read it all the way through, please post here!

The thread on Wuthering Heights has almost convinced me to reread it. For some reason I really hated that book, and I usually love anything from that genre. So I think this is an awesome group so far! I've also almost been convinced to reread The Historian even though I thought it was terrible.

I actually liked Wuthering Heights. Ghosts and creeps, dark moors and howling winds. It must have been the bomb when it first was published.

I want to be convinced to appreciate The Great Gatsby and I keep following that topic, but I'm just not feeling it. I get what it's about, and I gather there's symbolism all around it, but it's just not a deep enough theme or story to impress me.

Lots of people I like love Fitzgerald; I never will. I have accepted this. :)

I'm just ambivalent. I don't see why so big a deal is made about it. It's a good book, but it doesn't leap out at me as being among the best for any particular reason. If it's because I'm missing out on something, I'd sure like to know what. I pride myself on knowing good literature when I see it.
