Another winner. Some of these Pulitzers you have to ask yourself "Why"? but this one was pretty interesting as a view of the times (New York early in the Industrial Revolution). It was hard to get into the characters, they were sketchy I felt. Over all, I enjoyed the book.

yup, Millhauser is a fine writer - clear, quirky, but his things too often read like creations for creative writing class or something. Still, I enjoy him - I just never find him completely satisfying
