Hello and welcome to Club Read 2017! Here is your handy-dandy place to post about general things relating in some way to the group, or the group's interests! :)
So first order of business: Would anyone like to volunteer to help out keeping up our annual threads? Those being What Are You Reading, Best of Quarter/Year, and Interesting Articles.

I'll volunteer for the Best of Quarter/Year (or Favorite Reads as listed in the 2016 group) but only if NanaCC wants to hand it off to someone else.

I can do the "What Are You Reading" again (unless if someone else wants to take it of course) :)

>2 This-n-That: I am happy to let someone else do the Best of Quarter / Year threads. Thank you. I just set up the best of Q4 in the 2016 group, and at Monkey's suggestion, I set up the Best of 2016 in this new 2017 group. The official hand off for Q1 2017 starts .... now. :)

>5 NanaCC: Thanks for posting the year end "Best of" topic here, too. I won't worry about it until March then. :-)

I'll be happy to set up the Interesting Articles thread again. It's not an onerous task.

"What are you reading" is up and running for anyone that would like to start posting: https://www.librarything.com/topic/244149

Updated original message:
I didn't notice anyone volunteer to take over the posting of Favorite Quarterly Reads while I needed to take a break from LT, so I went ahead and posted it for Q1 Jan-Mar. http://www.librarything.com/topic/252824

Hi. I'm keyboard challenged. I miss everyone on LT and Club Read.

We miss you too, Rebecca! I hope you are doing as well as possible. I miss your active thread as it has always been a great inspiration to me, but I want you to know that you've made a huge difference in my reading life over the past years whether or not you're able to be active right now.
Best wishes for a health and happiness!

As Jennifer said, we miss you too. Your thread has inspired so many of us. I'm hoping you are comfortable, and send you a big virtual hug.

>11 rebeccanyc: Count me in with Jennifer and Colleen. Missing your opinions and reviews on your books. You inspired me to seek out many and I often come across a note to myself "recommended by Rebecca". Wishing you all the best.

Thank you all.

I miss you too Rebecca. I was always in awe of your reading, and looked forward to your reviews. I also appreciated the leadership roles you took in Club Read and Reading Globally--you certainly have contributed immensely to making these groups successful. All my best wishes are with you.

Hi fellow Rebecca, I miss your presence too and send you my best wishes.
I wasn't around on LT last year, but I read An Ermine in Czernopol and started Miklós Bánffy's Transylvanian Trilogy, both of which I discovered on your threads. This year I plan to read The Burning of the World, which I also wouldn't have come across if it weren't for you, so thank you for widening my horizons.

Just wanted to give a heads up to any Kindle-owners out there. Amazon has some classic titles on sale today. (Steinbeck's East of Eden; Kerouac's On the Road; Asimov's Foundation. It's rare to see so many classic titles in their daily deals....

Darryl (kidzdoc) and I are planning to get together in New York City on September 9 and would love for others to join us! He had mentioned that he thought some of his fellow Club Readers might be interested, but he's working a crazy schedule at the moment, so I am taking it upon myself to post here - hope that's all right...

I have created a new thread about Club Read 2018. Our 10th year!! Please look for it and leave your comments.

The NEW 10th Anniversary Club Read 2018 group is up on the boards. Please go visit and make your thread but come back here and finish out the year with us!
I've added a message board and introduction threads and a "best of" for the previous year (which will be a deliberate redundancy of the one that will close out Club Read 2017)
If I've forgotten anything, please drop me a note. I think we have volunteers for all the standard community threads, thank you. Suggestions for 2018 should probably go on the 2018 message board.
