A little over a month left of 2016 - how time has flown!

I had a good reading year again. I cannot imagine my life without books! As before, I have made the decision that I read because I enjoy it, and I will read what I want when I want, regardless of whether a book fits into a category or not!

I am again going to keep it simple in 2017 - I will have only six categories and I will not commit myself to a fixed number of books in each category.

I love cooking and I have decided to build my categories around food.

My categories are:

1. Spices - Mysteries
2. Bread - History
3. Pasta - Europe
4. Wine - Novels
5. Hot Chocolate - Cozy Mysteries
6. Strawberries - Just Because

I am looking forward to another magical reading year in 2017!

Happy reading everyone!

Oh, what a shame! ;-(

We really hate pictures of food here, almost as much as pictures of pets.

Just kidding! I always enjoy pictures of yummy food! (and pets, folks) I like the use of bread for your history category since bread seems to have always been around in all its different forms.

I hope 2017 brings you lots of good reading!

1. Hickory Dickory Dock by Agatha Christie

Very good fun but not one of her best. Two crucial parts of the solution seem to be simply intuited by Poirot out of nowhere - he never explains what led him to work out those two particular things, which weakens the denouement. But a very enjoyable read nonetheless.

25Hanneri
Jan 7, 2017, 5:59 am

2. Don't Look Back by Karin Fossum

I really enjoyed it! I will absolutely be reading more of her novels. The book was fast paced and it kept me engaged from start to finish! I had ideas of "who did it" but it did not ruin it for me as her progression of how the mystery unfolded was masterful!

3. Secret Father by James Carroll

I enjoyed the historical setting and backdrop of Berlin right before the wall went up. I liked the parts where the teenager narrated rather than the parts when the father did. The beginning was slow. The ending was good. I thought some parts got boring and the love story between the adults was contrived.

30Hanneri
Jan 15, 2017, 9:26 am

4. The Auschwitz Violin by Maria Angels Anglada

I loved the story. Haunting. The translation was a bit stiff in places. It I followed the tale with great interest. A triumph of the human spirit!

31Hanneri
Jan 15, 2017, 9:32 am

5. No Way Back by M.J. Arlidge

A short novella explaining how Helen Grace came to be- really enjoyed it and worth a read if you enjoy the books.

6. Cherry Cheesecake Murder by Joanne Fluke

This book was okay. It took ages to get going. Not the same charm as the previous ones. I'm really staring to tire of the Mike/Hannah/Norman triangle and was really incensed she added Ross to the mix. I really dislike love triangles and this one is really ridiculous. It's far-fetched the two men would get along so well and be okay with the woman they love dating others. I will not remember this one for any period of time.

>34 Hanneri: I've slowed on reading that series. They've lost their punch for me too. However, I'm reading one in it now so I haven't completely given it up. I've read many of them out of order. I'm not sure if the one I'm reading is the next unread or not.

37Hanneri
Fév 8, 2017, 7:10 pm

7. A Game of Spies by John Altman

There are better espionage stories out there, but it was an interesting novel about the espionage and counter-espionage efforts of the British and Germans during WWII.....in this tale, the communication of false information in an attempt to deceive the enemy.

38Hanneri
Fév 8, 2017, 7:21 pm

8. The Soldier's Wife by Margaret Leroy

The story was beautifully written, but I felt the 'story' was lacking. Vivienne's husband is away at war and she decides to stay on the small island of Guernsey with her daughters. German soldiers move in next door and Vivienne embarks on an affair with one of them. It was just so unlikely this would have been kept secret for any length of time. The story just lacked substance and ended in a very predictable way.

39Hanneri
Fév 8, 2017, 7:39 pm

9. Who is Martha by Marjana Gaponenko

I really have no clue what to say about this novel. It just seemed a bunch of words put together. I really wanted to enjoy this, but in the end it was just a long slog that just did not want to end. Dying Ukrainian ornithologist goes to Vienna and stays in a fancy hotel. Some really gorgeous and inventive descriptions of bird calls and music. Luka himself seems by turns daft and petulant. I just did not enjoy this.

40Hanneri
Fév 19, 2017, 7:15 pm

10. The Man Who Smiled by Henning Mankell

I enjoyed this more than I expected. I read some of the reviews and was not too excited about starting this. However, I loved the gloomy, foggy, windy, damp, or bitterly cold typical Swedish setting, which mirrors Kurt Wallander's depression, angst, and solitude. The unraveling of the mystery is a bit less complicated than you'd like it to be, but in the end it was a very enjoyable read.

41Hanneri
Fév 26, 2017, 9:10 pm

11. My Name is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout

I really wanted to like this, but the story was honestly very underwhelming for me. I loved the author's writing style, and this was definitely a quick and easy read. But I expected so much more! A lot of things went left unsaid in this book. I was waiting for some kind of big reveal at the end that never came, and I was left thinking - what was the point?

42Hanneri
Mar 1, 2017, 7:30 pm

12. The Hollow by Agatha Christie

Not one of her best, overall still enjoyable. The book seemed a little bit melodramatic more than her other books. Also the end was a bit rushed.

43Hanneri
Mar 12, 2017, 11:24 pm

13. The Fashion in Shrouds by Margery Allingham

I have read and enjoyed several of the author's Campion stories but I confess that I struggled with this one. To start with it was just too long and did not keep me interested. I kept putting in down and doing something else because it just did not hold my attention. For some reason I did not like the most of the characters and even Campion did not come across as he does in other stories. Not recommended at all.

44Hanneri
Mar 13, 2017, 7:14 pm

14. A Ghost in the Machine by Caroline Graham

This was a very long book with little action, in fact it was way too long. The plot involves investments and stock market trading but the technical terms used are not explained so it is difficult to know what's going on. I loved the character in the TV, but not so much in the book. Probably good that this is the end of the series.

45Hanneri
Mar 23, 2017, 4:17 pm

15. Blackout by Ragnar Jonasson

I have read all of the other books in the series and I am looking forward to the next one! It's summer this time in Iceland, but the atmosphere is still oppressive, as volcano ash has been covering the skies. Ari Thor is settling into his job in the north of Iceland, but still regrets breaking up with his girlfriend. He is not quite at the forefront in this investigation, which seems to be a collaborative effort between different police forces and a journalist determined to make her mark. We are introduce to a variety of people and voices, get to see a diversity of point of views. All in all a very enjoyable read!

46Hanneri
Mar 26, 2017, 4:57 pm

16. The Postmistress by Sarah Blake

There were a few interesting parts, but too many things that just didn't hang together. Why would the postmistress go through the ordeal at the doctor's office for Harry Vale? Why would Will just up and leave his orphaned wife? Why wouldn't Frankie give the big news right away? There are much better books set in WWII to read than this.

47Hanneri
Mar 30, 2017, 10:08 pm

17. The Tulip Eaters by Antionette van Heugten

I had hoped for so much more. It was flat, it was unbelievable and it was a waste of time. I love reading books about WWII, but this was really not a good read. Find something else if you enjoy books from that period of history.

50Hanneri
Avr 10, 2017, 4:53 pm

19. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford

The story is set in Seattle Washington in 1986 when inside a hotel the belongings of Japanese families from the 1940's are found. That was when Japanese families were rounded up and sent to camps during WWll. The story takes a Chinese man back to that time to an innocent and forbidden love. All in all an enjoyable read.

51Hanneri
Modifié : Avr 17, 2017, 5:01 pm

20. The Snowman by Jo Nesbo

Yet another gripping read from Jo Nesbo. The contemporary Oslo setting and disillusioned maverick of a main detective, along with a plot that kept turning, built to a masterful, startling conclusion. Gruesome murders that unfortunately turn snowmen into something like the demented circus clowns of horror movies. The detective Harry Hole as well as many of the characters have flawed personalities that manifest themselves in various ways. The setting is dark, cold, and somewhat depressing. A gripping read!

52LisaMorr

21. The Lady in Gold: The Extraordinary Tale of Gustav Klimt's Masterpiece, Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer by Anne-Marie O'Connor

An interesting history about Austrian art and Austrian society before and after World War II. A lot of facts about Gustav Klimt, who died in relative obscurity but whose art commanded more than any artist when it was sold at auction in the US. This book delves into art stolen by Nazi's, traded or destroyed by Nazi's and focuses on a particular group of paintings by Gustav Klimt. It is quite a story...and all absolutely true.

54Hanneri
Avr 27, 2017, 9:24 pm

22. Picnic in Provence: Memoir with Recipes by Elizabeth Bard

The real life story of the author and her husband's move to Provence, and the birth and raising of their first child. The book is filled with typical Provence things, like food descriptions and commentary on the French education system, this book will delight all those interested in all things French. I really enjoyed the book!

55Hanneri

This was fluff with not much going for it. Ideal if you want something mindless to pass the time.

56Hanneri
Mai 7, 2017, 3:59 pm

24. The Listerdale Mystery by Agatha Christie

An enjoyable enough read for a Sunday afternoon. A few of the short stories were nice. But mostly the twist/climax came before we could really care about the protagonists.

57Hanneri
Mai 21, 2017, 10:47 pm

25. Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson

This was a story of love in later life set against the backdrop of village life and it's associated prejudices. It may sound dull and unexciting but it was amusing and well written, the characters developed and unfolded, in short I enjoyed the story, warmed to the Major, liked Mrs Ali and could have punched the obnoxious Roger.

26. The Wench is Dead by Colin Dexter

Do not really know what to make of this. This is an unusual Inspector Morse story because he is investigating a murder which happened in 1860 as a diversion whilst in hospital. I found some of the conclusions he came to rather flimsy based on the evidence available. The story was mildly interesting but not one of his best.

60rabbitprincess
Mai 25, 2017, 5:30 pm

>59 Hanneri: Hm, I had hoped to try that one instead of another Morse I was reading. Still haven't found a Morse story that has clicked with me. I seem to like the TV show "Endeavour" best.

27. Summer at the Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan

This book was not as good as the first one. The conflict is boring and Polly is weak - not like she is in the first book. Many of the townspeople were also absent as well as the charm of their island home.

64thornton37814
Mai 30, 2017, 8:44 am

>63 Hanneri: I have the first one on the Kindle app on my iPad. It might be a good book to read while I'm gone to a conference in a couple of weeks and don't want to lug real books around, adding weight to my luggage.

Juin 11, 2017, 4:57 pm

28. First Frost by James Henry

The third prequel to the original series of Inspector Frost books and this one is the end of Sergeant Frost. It's a good read although this Frost doesn't feel the same as in the original series. The story does feel a bit convoluted in parts but it does come together in a reasonable way. Being set more than 30 years ago it makes for an interesting read about the coming of computers to fighting crime. Though Frost handles this in his usually haphazard style.

66Hanneri
Juin 13, 2017, 4:54 pm

29. The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes

It was an interesting and enjoyable book. It is about the emotional attachment that two different women had for a portrait. In both cases it was a representation of a man's love for them. It alternates between the World War I era and the current era.

67Hanneri
Juin 18, 2017, 4:35 pm

30. The Labours of Hercule Poirot by Agatha Christie

I often read Agatha Christie books as fillers between other books. They always come through to amuse. This book was different as it was 12 short stories instead of one narrative. This made it nice as light reading over the weelend. I haven't read an Agatha Christie I didn't like!

31. I is for Innocent by Sue Grafton

Private investigator Kinsey Millhone takes over an investigation started by a deceased PI. It involves a law suit filed against a man aquited at trial of murdering his wife. Kinsey finds discrepancies in the case and indications that the other PI might have been murdered. An OK read.

Juin 25, 2017, 4:30 pm

32. A Secret Kept by Tatiana de Rosnay

I don't really know how to describe this book. It wasn't the worst book I've ever read but after the amazing telling of Sarah's Key, I was disappointed. The characters were offbeat to the point of being rather unrelatable and the big secret wasn't really much of one. Ending was so unsatisfying... I wish the characters had more depth.

70Hanneri
Juin 26, 2017, 9:02 pm

33. J is for Judgement by Sue Grafton

The former Wendell Jaffe is apparently not so former. Kinsey's digging into his "widow"s insurance claims, as well as the fraud that led him believe it would be in his best interests to be believed dead.

Juil 2, 2017, 10:00 pm

34. The Earth Hums in B Flat by Mari Strachan

This book was a lovely light read, yet dealt sensitively with the serious issues undercutting the stability of the protagonist's family life. As Strachan describes the crumbling of a community, she intersperses her writing with soft touches, such as the description of Gwenni's 'flying' and the 'Earth's hum'. A lovely book set in a Welsh village.

Juil 2, 2017, 10:07 pm

35. The Keeper of Secrets by Amanda Brooke

A very quick read. Amanda Brooke does a very good job of describing an abusive marriage in which the husband is domineering and denigrates his wife at every opportunity. I liked the fiesty friend, Angie, and was pleased when Ellie asserted herself. A good filler.

This is the second Aimee LeDuc mystery from Cara Black and is another good read. The plot is complex plot and there are many characters. The book centers around the issue of French Algerians (and Algerian French), as Aimee stumbles into a high-profile hunger protest by Algerian nationals who may be deported.

37. Hypothermia by Arnaldur Indridason

Hypothermia is an enjoyable, satisfying book. I found myself drawn deeply into the chilly, stark world Indridason brings to life. The language is simple, but consistently and consciously so. The characters are painfully honest with each other and despite their tragic stories and the bleak setting, I was quite pleased with the way everything was wrapped up. A good book is one that makes you eager to get back to it and this book had that effect on me.

38. The Girl in the Ice by Lotte Hammer

This was hard work in places. I generally enjoy the Scandinavian crime writers, but this did not flow. There were elements in the story telling that annoyed me and that I just simply didn't believe. And the characters were interesting for the most part but there wasn't enough depth to make them clear.

39. Moscow Sting by Alex Dryden

An enjoyable read and an interesting spy story, not the best I have ever read though. It does seem to leave a number of sub-plots open for future use but most of the sub-plots/characters were ended abruptly. There is a lot of detail in housing, location and character but not enough detail in how the story progresses and then all of a sudden there is a fire-fight and some are dead.

41. Fifty Shades Darker by E L James

I have decided to read the series. I find that I liked the plot better in this one, yes the plot does get better and does change. This story is not just about dominate and submissive lifestyles. This is a story about learning to trust and learning to accept others and not judge others without first knowing who they are. There are also some added elements to this one such as mystery and thriller. It adds a more intense moments to the story. I did find the end of this a bit predictable but I do look forward to how it will be incorporated into the final book. I could do without all the sex in this book. It does taper off in the beginning, but then seems to get over the top as the story goes on. I also thought that the writing itself has improved some. There are still the use of some lines or words that get annoying, but it has improved.

42. Fifty Shades Freed by E L James

I don’t know quite how I feel about this book. I found myself cringing a lot and was more uncomfortable with Ana and Christian’s relationship than I have ever been before. After reading this book I realized what an incredible journey the author took us on. I had quite a few problems with the writing and Ana’s character in the beginning, but the author knows how to tell a hell of a tale, so I was sucked in despite those issues.

This is more of an optional book to the series. It's more of James and Stephan's perspective on the past and present (after the events happened on Grounded). Also, we get to see the perspectives from other side characters in the story. It's a quick read and I finished this in one sitting. I still enjoyed this book as a last hurrah.

48. Bared to You by Sylvia Day

Bared To You has a definite 50 Shades feel to it. Our hero and heroine are both emotionally damaged and being together is a constant push and pull for them. We follow their turbulent relationship as they each try to understand the other's wants and needs. I admit that the two protagonists in here didn't work as well as our 50 Shades couple for me. Maybe because this couple in here steeped in so much realism. While I could never imagine a REAL Christian and Ana, I could imagine a real Eva and Gideon. And that made me uncomfortable. I didn't like Gideon's dominance. It was insulting. Eva also made me feel uncomfortable. With her past, I wanted to see her not so accepting of people's taking advantage of her. The sexy scenes are off the chain with unbelievable chemistry. :) The over all story line was quite engaging and I liked that Ms. Day isn't promising an HEA in here. I don't know if I will read the sequel as I just wasn't that taken with the characters, but I do recommend this book for those who enjoyed 50 Shades and are looking for a more realistic adult version.

Another quick and addictive read just like the first novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this read but was once again annoyed the extreme about characters actions and decisions. 50. Entwined with You by Sylvia Day

I liked this book, it just fell a little short from it's predecessors. I felt like the last half of the book was a lot better than the first. It just seemed to ramble on. Not that I'm minding... but it gets a little bit old when the story is lacking. I read that this was supposed to be a three book series, then Mrs. Day switched it to a five! So maybe this book just had the "filler book" curse.

51. Captivated by You by Sylvia Day

Loved it. I liked seeing Gideon & Eva really trying as a couple. It's still a struggle for Gideon battling his past, the nightmares, & his possessiveness. Added pressures cause a strain between him & Eva but for the first time, there's evidence of him working through their problems, sharing things with her, & sincerely trying to make things work. Having said that, he still screws up sometimes, all in the name of protecting her. As the saying goes, the road to love is never easy. Both of them have people from the past coming out of the woodwork trying to harm them & drive a wedge between them. Captivated By You is a great addition to this series. It moved things forward while still leaving readers with more questions. Hopefully, we'll get all the answers in the last book. A must read!

The first book in the On Dublin Street series. Jocelyn (aka Joss) Butler has seen her share of heartbreak. She lost her parents and sister when she was 14 and her best friend about a year later. Now she has hardened her heart and refuses to let anyone in, especially her new roommate's gorgeous brother, Braden Carmichael. Braden first saw the gorgeous Jocelyn when they shared a cab to Dublin Street. But Joss isn't making things easy for him. The development of the story and characters was wonderful. 54. Until Fountain Bridge by Samantha Young

I enjoyed Young's use of the diaries to tell Ellie and Adam's story. The story starts in the present and takes jaunts to the past. I thought that I would have enjoyed in starting in the past and working up to the present. But, it made complete sense the way it was written. It was taken from Ellie's point of view since she wrote the diaries, but the reader feels Adam's emotions through those moments as well. We also feel his emotions and hear his thoughts when the couple comes back to the present. I actually would have rated the story higher if a bit more focus had been placed on Ellie's sickness and recovery. But, as it was, Until Fountain Bridge was a very sweet read.

This is the last book in Jonathon and Monica’s wild ride of a love story. This series has followed the ups and downs of their relationship and it has been fantastic. I was really surprised by this book. It had such a melancholy, nervous feel to it. Would Jonathon and Monica ever get their happily ever after because in this particular story they have huge obstacles standing in their way. I am trying to write this review without giving any spoilers away. There is as always a hot and heavy sexual theme to the book, but this time it is told in a different way. So many times the women in these story's are more exhausting than the controlling men they're with. I love that Nikki is not intimidated by Damien. She is intelligent and has a mind of her own. I love the complexity of their characters and how the author depicts both of them with physical and emotional scars that match their inner turmoil. It’s not a story of the knight in shining armor saves the princess, but how two damaged people can come together and try to fill in each other’s cracks. By the time I realised who it was, I was not surprised, it made ton of sense. I won't go into the details of who did what and why I was a teary mess but I would say that it was a fun read and I would recommend this to someone who does not have a weak stomach. 98. On My Knees by J. Kenner

Loved the book. I think the chemistry that J. Kenner has put into Sylvia and Jackson is amazing and I like a little mystery with this guy. The story is great. I read it so fast the first time I had to take a breath and then went back and read it again. I just got the third book and can't wait to dive in.

100. Tempt Me by J. Kenner

This was Ryan & Jaime's story. He wants to marry her, she is afraid if they get married it will ruin the great relationship they have! Can Ryan convince her it will be good, or will she run scared. This book was well written, I could not put it down!

101. Take My Dare by J. Kenner

I loved getting a little more of Jackson and Sylvia's life. I appreciated how Julie wrote this book with lots of reminders from their trilogy. It's almost to where you could read this novella with out the trilogy but if you did that you would definitely be missing out. So start at the beginning! But this is a wonderful additional to their lives!

103. This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas

The characters are likeable - occasionally I thought Ava was a little annoying but not overly so that it ruined the read, loved Jesse's alpha-maleness, Kate was a fun secondary character as was Sam. I liked that at the end of the book, Jesse is still left as a bit of a mystery, you don't know that much about him- it is something to look forward to in the next books as hopefully they shed some more light on his character. I thought the ending to the book was good, although as I love Jesse I didn't really like how it ended for him. It was a perfect start to the series.

104. Beneath This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas

What a story. I really liked the first story, This Man, but I absolutely loved Beneath This Man. The story of Jesse and Ava grabs a hold of you and doesn't let go. It's a bit of a roller coaster ride and not one you want to get off of. I'm looking forward to the final book, hoping all questions get answered.

Perfect ending to the story. It was so worth the wait. I really liked how Ava's and Jesse's relationship grew in the book and they got to know each other along with some confessions. Loved the epilogue to the story. As I already said its the perfect ending and I look forward to reading Jodie's future books.

106. Brie Learns the Art of Submission: Submissive Training Center by Red Phoenix

I really enjoyed this book. Brie Bennett is an interesting young character with courage to spare. It was originally posted in 9 parts each walking you through Brie's steps to learning the art of being a submissive. It is true to the genre and fun to read.

107. Brie Embraces the Heart of Submission: After Graduation by Red Phoenix

This is the second book in the Brie Series and it's a great book! Picks up after the collar ceremony and you get to see Brie and Sir become closer as he continues her "training". And let's not forget introducing Sir to her parents. That was very well written. I could actually picture that scene as it played out. I highly recommend this book/series!

108. Brie Masters Love in Submission: Submissive in Love by Red Phoenix

The third in the Brie Series by Red Phoenix was absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking. I was on a roller coaster that kept speeding up and I was locked into my seat and couldn't get out and didn't want to get out until I found what happened. I laughed, cried, cheered and blew out my breathe when I finished the story. Brie and Sir's story was so lovingly beautiful. Tono, Todd and Mary's stories filled me sadness but I saw hope at the end. Lea was the bright light that kept everyone groaning with her bad jokes.

109. Temptation (Club X) by K.M. Scott

I found this book to be really enjoyable. It had romance and drama/angst. I liked Cash and Olivia together and thought they had some great chemistry. My only complaint was the pacing of the story. It was fine until I got to the last few chapters. It felt like the end was really rushed. But, other than that, I did enjoy it and look forward to reading the other brothers stories.

This final book with everyone was awesome. Cassian's mother Alexandria accept Kane as her son, but was mad at her husband Cassian III, for what he has done. But Alexandria took it out on Kane and made him not feel welcome. Kane and Alexandria has made peace with each other, and Annalea has a wonderful grandmother Alexandria. 118. Club Shadowlands by Cherise Sinclair

Club Shadowlands was a great short story erotica that kept me entertained for a couple of hours. It was well written with charming characters that you can’t help but be enthralled with. It had the familiar plot point of an innocent, sheltered female who is exposed to the BDSM lifestyle by an alluring Dom of a man, but Cherise Sinclair made it enjoyable by having characters that just enthralled you. Jessica and especially Master Z were charismatic and what really made the book enjoyable.

120. Breaking Free (Club Shadowlands) by Cherise Sinclair

Beth and Nolan's story. Beth escaped abusive husband and Nolan is strong protector type. This is one of my favorite in the series. I love how Beth and Nolan come together, how patient and calm Nolan is with Beth. I like how Beth struggles to trust and how she makes friends with not only Nolan but with the other submissives at Shadowlands. I really enjoy this type of plot so this story hits all the points for me, but for others this may not be a good book.

121. Lean on Me by Cherise Sinclair

I enjoyed reading this story. If you are looking for strong emotions (there is no way to read this story with out experiencing the emotions)this is a great way to do it. Andrea has taken care of herself and her father since she was 9. Growing up she has learned not to depend on anyone. Learning to give complete trust and submission is really hard for her. Cullen is a dom who has lived for so long closed off to emotions and finds that Andrea is just what he needs to become whole again. This trainee and trainer are perfect for each other.

Another great book by Cherise Sinclair! Marcus and Gabrielle ended up to be good together. It was neat to the power struggles these two had and how Gabi wanted to submit but couldn't for the sake of being under cover. Some of Marcus's punishment to Gabi were very creative and I was always waiting and wondering what was going to happen next! To Command and Collar is a brave book. With so much potential of turning into a dark story of human slavery, Cherise proved herself again as the master of BDSM romance by filtering the story with such a strong sense of healing and love that it is yet another romantic masterpiece in her Shadowlands series.

I really enjoyed my trip back to the Shadowlands with this novella. Jake and Rainie were perfect for each other. I loved how patient Jake was with Rainie and also that he has his own commitment issues that he wasn't even aware of but that he copped to as soon as they were pointed out to him.
