This thread is for all true feminists on the board to explain feminism to us women who can't possibly understand gender-based oppression just by living it every day.

Go for it!

I notice the issue is undated — because it never goes out of date?

Oh, that reminds me... a guy on the subway yesterday was reading a magazine I'd never heard of before, Fantastic Man. I thought maybe it was about that one dude on the cover but no, turns out Fantastic Man is the name of the magazine. And it's not about fantasy or fantastic literature or David Bowie...

Published by Phaidon (the art publisher) it's a "style" magazine for men but with more substance i.e. text, than say Vogue Hommes.

I thought how there's no "Fantastic Woman" mag and how maybe only the long-defunct (and personally greatly mourned) Mirabella had perhaps a similar unapologetic "wo/men are great!" message... although not directly in the name.

Men's magazine: men are fantastic! Behold!

Women's magazine: you're a frightful fat frump but if you buy this and this and that you'll fool someone yet.

Lol, yes. I'm not reading any of that "won't see Ghostbusters because women" dreck, but it's nice to see there's someone kicking the dumbster butt. I don't know how those people manage to look at themselves in the mirror. But maybe they don't reach that high?

A new phrase for me, and I like it.

No. If I understand the blog post linked in >9 sturlington:, it's because their penises don't reach that high.

Fantastic Man has a sister magazine with the same aesthetic, The Gentlewoman--although that begs the question why men are "fantastic" and women are "gentle".
