Miniaturbuchverlag Leipzig (Miniboox) is a publisher of delightful miniature books covering a range of topics from Flatland and Alice’s Adentures in Wonderland to Shakespeare and Dickens.
The books come in two varieties – standard and limited editions. The latter are limited to 250 copies and have gilt edging. The standard editions start at €25. Both forms come in their own decorative slipcase and beautifully printed in a print size that is very easy to read.
I have just purchased Flatland, and despite being 53 x 38 x 23 mm (in slipcase 60mm x 47mm x 28mm) it has a quite remarkable 678 pages.
They publish in both German and English, with about 20 English titles.
Truly delightful little books, and very collectible.

No connection, other than a happy purchaser.

But is it letterpress? ;)
Pretty neat and I see they even sell bookshelves for it. Is it all text or any of the books have some sort of illustrations?

>2 JuliusC:
Certainly not letterpress. I can only comment about illustrations in Flatland, which are limited to a few line drawings as appropriate to the text.

You wanted to see inside, so here are some sample pages.

I actually think they are very reasonably priced for what they are. There is a lot of work in producing such small gems and they are leather covered.

Frithiof’s Saga, LEC and Swedish miniature edition by Allhems Förlag 1959 (leather bound, top edge gilt, slipcase). I assure you, this book is not a pleasure to read even with a good magnifying glass. iPhone 6S in the last picture.

I guess now that you understand why I get nervous every time that my wife wants to use the vacuum cleaner in my library...

Another volume in my collection of miniature books is The Smallest English Dictionary In The World. This was published in 1899 by David Bryce and Son. Glasgow. It jams 384 pages into a tiny book 28 x 20 mm.
It is bound in gilt-titled limp red roan with the titles in gilt on the covers and spine,. and it is housed in an embossed tin-brass locket with an inset magnifying glass on the front. The locket is engraved with the title on the front, and the back bears the design of a globe with an open book at the base.
There is a portrait frontis of Dr.Johnson.

Bryce achieved the tiny size of this significant volume through the process of photographic reduction.
The print size is microscopic, and cannot be read by anyone without a magnifier. A large number were produced, and they are not particularly rare, but many are damaged or missing the locket.
Mine is in fine condition and cost £90. There are several for sale on Abe at present.

An elegant miniature edition of Horace's lyric poems in Sapphic metre. This is a finely printed and bound reproduction, number 50 of 150 copies, of the extremely rare Ashendene Press miniature Carmina Sapphica, famously commissioned for Queen Mary's doll's house in 1923.
