hola larry,

glad to hear you'll be joining the Latin Club, based on your earlier replies about South American fiction i think you'll bring more to the table (mesa) than most...the trip to BsAs was que lindo and it was interesting in our hotel I ran into a French teacher from Hartford,CT who was there visiting book stores (he was a book collector) and he was having a grand time- he told me i should check out Pavese and Marichal and that he buys ULYSSES in different languages and uses it as a tableau to self-teach himself new tongues.

Yikes! I'm contemplating teaching myself to read spanish but with something straightforward. Joyce does things in English that I don't know how you would translate. Met him pike hoses.

jveezer- i totally get it, this gentleman from Hartford was a bit of an odd bird BUT he was clearly a book lover. i'm sure he is also a natural linguist.

as of myself i don't think i'll learn spanish until i spend a span of time in Argentina which I hope to do in the next couple of years...for now all i can do is a phrase here and there.

ciao, mi amigo
saludos,bert
