I just started The Dive From Clausen's Pier last night and I am more than 1/2 through it.
I think I am really going to like it, at least I do so far. The main character Carrie has had the same boyfriend all through high school and college. All their friends assume they will get married, she does have the ring. But she is finding that she is not really ready, that maybe she wants something more or different. She is working herself up to telling Mike when a tragic accident occurs, leaving him paralyzed. Does she owe him her loyalty?
I really had to think about this. How much do we owe the people around us? Our Parents? Our Children? Our Partners? Scarey to think what I might or might not do in a similar situation.
So I am anxious to get back to the book and see what happens. I know how I hope it ends and how I am afraid it might end.

It's a really, really good book & if someone tries to tell you the ending, shut your eyes & cover your ears.

OK, I finished it last night. It was neither the ending I hoped for, or the one I dreaded. I was kind of disappointed because I did hope she would end up with Bachelor #2, but of course if she had it would have been nothing more than another romance novel. And he did have too much baggage, something she is not good at. I am going to swap it, it was OK but not worth keeping for life. I would recommend it though, something along the lines of Ann Tyler books.
