A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle should be a nice, quick read for March. I have the complete works so don't need to request it from the library. Will anyone be joining me?

I've never read any Conan Doyle, so this seems a really good time to fix that. I'll join you!

I think I already read it long ago, will probably grab some free e-book copy to re-read along.

I also read it long ago, and will probably borrow the complete works from my son to reread it.

>3 Jarandel: Project Gutenberg has it, and is the source of the copy I'll be reading.

Have borrowed a copy from the library ready to give this one a go. I think I probably read it about twenty or so years ago as I seem to remember working my way through a very large book of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's works, but I remember nothing about it.

Read this last year, so I'll join in any discussion, but don't think I'll do a reread. Later, when people have read it and want a spoiler thread, maybe we could do a link to the informal discussion that happened then. I'm not sure what thread it was in, but it was sort of a comparison between the TV shows and the novel.

I remember my dad reading this aloud to me when I was little.

Well I've made a start and am now four chapters in. I was a little worried that my lack of liking the TV and movie Sherlock's since Jeremy Brett might have tainted my enjoyment of this - which I do remember watching and feeling okay about but apart from his appearance I remember little else. I'm going to admit to the terrible sin of really not enjoying Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock and I managed to struggle through 1 series but couldn't bring myself to repeat the struggle through any further. I've watched the first of the Robert Downey Jr movies and can't say I really enjoyed it, but I found I preferred his Sherlock.

The book, so far, is more up my street :D

So far I'm struck by how weak Watson's health is - I don't think I'd remembered that about his character. It's interesting seeing Watson try to peel back the layers of Sherlock like peeling an onion and contrasting his perceptions with Sherlock's ability to see through to the core of people immediately.

I've finally found my copy, so I'm going to read it on my flight to Australia. I've just arrived at Lauriston Gardens, and I'm very much enjoying it so far. Watson's reluctance to ask Holmes his business struck me as excessively English :)
