Hello everyone.

I want to thank everyone for having participated in this group for the last few years. It has been quite fun even though we were a bit all over the place. But I really appreciate the conversations we've had and the enthusiasm everyone has shown to this project.

However, I have an announcement to make. I am moving to Japan next year and will thus no longer be able to maintain this group as a) I will not have my collection of books, b) it will be harder to acquire books, and c) my energy and focus will be off books for quite a while as I settle into my new life.

If anyone would like to take over this group I'd be happy to hand it over. Otherwise, I'm also happy just letting the group sleep until the future when I might be available again.

Anyway, thanks again to everyone.

Lilisin

Bon voyagee! Thanks for getting me into Zola. I didn't participate in the theme reads but the threads in the group ignited my own interest and I owe you a great debt as a reader as a result.

How exciting that you are moving to Japan! You must be thrilled.

I can't take over the group because I have my hands full, but it will continue to be a resource for me. Thanks to you and this group, I was introduced to writers from Japan, as well as to Saramago and le Clezio, and I became fascinated by writers from France, who I am continuing to read. Thank you.

That's great, Lilsin.

Thanks for running the group. It came at the right time, and gave me the push I needed to start reading French literature in French seriously, discovering authors such as Balzac and De Maupassant.

Particularly after reading 19Q4 (was that a group read here?), I basically discovered Japanese literature.

Hope to hear back from you, and would love to follow you in your new life, there. Perhaps you can join us on Club Read 2015!

I hope that's gonna be round, Rebecca :-)

Yes, Edwin. Once the Reading Globally theme reads get settled in a week or so, I'll post a thread in Club Read 2014 asking for ideas for improvements for next year, and then once I get some feedback I'll start the new group.

I'm happy to hear that. And yes, Zola is a good one! Although if you thank me for Zola you would also have to thank rebecca for giving us fantastic reviews.

Very thrilled! A dream come true really.
I'm pleased to hear you were so inspired by the group as it was equally inspiring to read all of your reviews. I really enjoyed seeing your reaction to the Japanese authors, which was one of my favorite years. I just loved having an excuse to push what I enjoy reading on others. And let's not forget Zweig. Seeing his name spread across LT was so much fun.

I didn't realize you were reading the books in French! How wonderful! And yes, we did do 1Q84 as a group read here. That was a fun one and I'm glad it led you to the world of Japanese literature. I actually do already have a thread in Club Read 2014 and will be continuing into 2015 once that group is set up. I'm typically a regular poster and only dropped my usage when I left for Japan. (I'm back in the US now but only temporarily as I wait for my visa.)
