I needed a break from heavier subjects so I'm currently perusing Chronicle of the Russian Tsars: The Reign-by-Reign Record of the Rulers of Imperial Russia.

Ah, yes. That's much lighter.

It certainly is after the Quintin Barry two volume history of the Franco-Prussian War.

^ Only a true history lover reads such books for pleasure, rather than under duress. :)
I'm currently working through the less weighty but no less informative No God but God : Egypt and the triumph of Islam, by Geneive Abdo. It deals with modern/recent history in Egypt, and the rise of the Islamists and other changes in society.

Just started my next book, The Unquiet Ghost: Russians Remember Stalin. It's a very good, in depth look into how the Stalinist era affected Russia today. It's incredibly good.
