Thanks bergs for posting this up. I love the William Hill award - it so often throws up such an eclectic and exciting list of titles across the wide world of sport. If I see a book in a used book shop with the "Shortlisted for the William Hill..." banner on the cover, then I know it's worth a closer look.

This year's list is the usual varied list. Being a West Ham fan I have obviously wishlisted the Bobby Moore book immediately - he is not only the greatest ever English footballer, but is rightly considered a football god by us Hammers. Not withstanding his shoddy treatment at the hands of the clubs owners and management in his time, the fans have always known that he deserved much better from both club and country whom he served so honourably.

Played in London also looks like a cracking read and one I've wishlisted. Do you know when the winner is announced?

As it says ; 27 November. Thanx for the comments although I rarely (LOL) talk to Hammer fans. You may indeed guess who I support from the groups I am in
